stl_zoot, i thought i did get a comp in with matusz and friedrich. as for crow, i can't really think of anyone. maybe oswalt in terms of stuff, but their deliveries are different and crow is a bigger guy.

shhh, i'm not too worried about his strikeouts b/c he has plenty of stuff and he is doing fine in that department this year, but i am not a big fan. he does have a great arm and holds his velocity all game, but his delivery is ugly and he's not real polished. i think he can remain a starter b/c guys who can throw 97 mph in the 7th or 8th inning are special, but i think some team will be tempted to get the quick return by moving him to the pen a la brandon morrow.

FGC, what did you think about B. Hunter only striking out only a little over 16% last year? I know he's facing really good competition, but still. Thats what kind of worries me about him. I know he has a first round arm, but do you think he can stay as a starter with his supposed "max-effort, herky-jerky delivery" according to brewerfan.

I like reading these reviews, They are a great way to see who is available. One thing I would ask though, could you put a MLB comparible in each write up, I know it is hard to find one for everyone, but even a loose comparible would help rate the players better.

I saw Matt Gorgen throw last summer (or maybe 2006?) in the Alaska Summer League. I had never heard of him, but looked him up pretty quickly on the program once I saw him dealing. He really stood out - sending me scrambling to find out who he was is a nice little testament to how much he stood out. No radar gun, the batters were having a hard time keeping up and he had great command as he closed out the game.

He was smallish and stocky, and seemed to strictly be used as an RP that summer.

i love lance lynn and will be getting to him soon. he doesn't have the hype of some of the other guys, but if he maintains his stuff and keeps pitching like he has so far he will move up ahead of a lot of them. not as big of a fan of guilmet as he has a funny delivery and his stuff is average at best.
