I’m just curious as to why Brett Wallace is still in the MWL. I’m guessing the Cards will let him finish out the year in Palm Beach, but I think that time is now. . .he has nothing left to prove in that league.

I noticed Phelps was playing in the OF last night. Is that the first time he’s played there? I wonder if that could presage a call up. Tony may have insisted that he be able to play somewhere besides first if they were going to use a roster slot?

Adam Daniels got released at Springfield. Pete Parisie got promoted to Palm Beach.

I agree with Grant’s conclusion re Catellanos, but I wonder why, given his age and his strong performance at Johnson City, he hasn’t been promoted by now.

Brandon Buckman got called up to Springfield and went 2 for 4 last night playing first base. I guess Andrew Brown got hurt?

The Perdomo profile got me thinking–did anyone at the beginning of the season think the organization would have so many poor bullpens up and down the ladder. Springfield and STL come to mind, but there have been some dissapointments at the lower levels as well.

Castellanos started at Johnson City because he was drafted out of a Divison II school. He didn’t face the stiffest competition in college, and with other IF’s drafted out of Division I programs (Curtis, Sedbrook) and Bolivar (who was struggling at QC) set at Batavia, there wasn’t going to be playing time there for Castellanos. And while he may not end up being a premium prospect, an IF with power and speed is still someone to keep an eye on.

Castellanos is old for his league. His lack of promotion does not suggest that he’s regarded as a premium prospect.

Nico just got new carpet in his sweet bi-level pad in Johnson City. With all the movement in the system, he didn’t want to do anything tonight to get himself promoted.

It’s got StainGuard for chrissake!

Nieto is having a very good year at Batavia. I’d kinda like to see him gets some starts at QC before the season ends.

Also, Anthony Reyes got the call to Cleveland.
