What's the word on Tyler Johnson? Is he healing fast enough (or at all) so that we should regard him as an option in "09? Or has his flakiness burned all remaining bridges? If he's healthy and focused, he would trump all the lefties mentioned above. Of course, that still leaves a spot for another leftie.

If players are coming up to the 5 year mark (or getting older) organizations sometimes will place them to see if they are going to protect them or use them as trade. Pitcher's may need some work and getting in a few innings will not do any harm. A friend of mine's son is going through this right now, after 5 years (six for more recent draft picks) he knows he has to perform well or may be looking for another job. He knows it's also about playing against good competition who might someday be MLB players. It's not always about sending your best prospects, which brings you to talk about Colby not going, why should a proven player, having an injury, not use the off season to fully recover?
Players do have options if they wish to play or not.
