I’m guessing that Motte and Freese were both hurt by their age. BA seems to give a lot of weight to players being young for their level. They don’t do a very good job at looking at reasons for being older. I think they looked at the age of Motte and Freese and considered them the same as a Quad A reliever in his 3rd try at the AAA level and not as a second year pitcher or a late draftee who skipped a level entirely.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a “sharp-breaking slider” from Boggs. It’s a curveball. Watch some games BA.

Motte certainly seems like he got jipped. List the number of guys who touch 100mph in the PCL.

Hey everyone-
I’m dissappointed that Motte did not crack the top 20. He not only excelled at Memphis, but proved he was not a fluke at the big league level. I do realize he needs to refine a #2 pitch, but when a guy can throw that hard AND throw strikes, it’s a beautiful thing.
Also, I think I may have mentioned this before, Mortenson’s stats are incredibly similar to Wainwright’s stats during his AAA seasoning. Comforting thought, huh?

I’m with Kyle on this one. I think Mort was rushed up the ladder a little too quickly, and, hopefully, next year will be a big year for him.

I believe Boggs is a reliever. Nice Fasball/Curveball combo but absolutely nothing else. Could make a nice swingman though to replace Thompson in the near future.

I knew that boggs was going to be ranked ahead of mortensen but i still believe that mortensen has the chance to be a more effective starter in the majors.

Don’t know if it has been mentioned on this site yet, but BA also released their All-Stars at each level. AAA – Freese, Boggs, Motte. AA – Salas. SS – Sedbrook, Reifer.
