Totally agree with just about everything he said. I've drawn the Butler-Wallace comparison before. There aren't a whole lot of players like Wallace so I guess a lot of people have and will.

I agree that the Cardinals need to add SPs that have a chance to be #3 type starters instead of #4-5 guys like Mortensen, Todd, Herron, Walters, etc. Garcia still has a chance and I think he will become a #3 when he gets his velocity back after TJ surgery(he was down to the 86-89 range this year). Boggs and Ottavino have the POTENTIAL but are so far away from it that its hard to call them future middle of the rotation guys.
I'd love to see the Cardinals address this in the 2009 draft. Maybe they can take a kid like Zack Wheeler or maybe Andy Oliver if he falls. Both have a chance to be middle of the rotation guys. I don't want to see them take Mike Leake or anyone like Leake in the 1st round. He's a solid pitcher but the Cards have like 5 of him in their system already. They can probably afford to take a risk on a high upside high school arm this year if one is available.

I liked the report on Kozma. A good defensive shortstop with a .780 OPS would be very nice.

Thanks to Ben for the interview. Erik, good stuff as always...

I like Ben's points about investing money in Latin America. Obviously, signing 16-year old's to million dollar contracts is risky, but the rewards could be great, if the team is patient.

As a college senior majoring in Sport Management, I'd like to know how to get a gig like his right out of college :)

I tend to agree with most of what he says, but I would be curious to get a little more insight into his statement about our starting pitching prospects. Like Badler, I think Todd is probably a bit overrated, but I wonder what he thinks of others like Mortensen and Herron. I think there are a few guys with legitimate shots to contribute at the big league level (although I would also agree that I am not "blown away" by our starting pitching prospects - it would be nice to have a high upside arm somewhere above Quad Cities).
