@ tnek … it’s something that could be considered, but I don’t think TLR would allow it to happen and i’m not completely sold that Freese is ready for an everyday job. The 3B FA market isn’t that great, so someone might want him for a one-year stop gap … but that’s what everyone is hoping he is for us.

I think the Angels would be a perfect trading partner. They have bee linked to the Atkins talks so it is possible they could want Glaus back and they also have a need to replace Garret Anderson. They have a surplus in the middle infield.

Would this make sense?

Troy Glaus, Skip Schumaker, and Allen Craig for Howie Kendrick and Brandon Wood?

In case my other communication did not get through, I most definately want you to be a guest on the United Cardinals Bloggers radio show set for December 3. As you might expect, I would like to pick your brains regarding the fall and winter league action relative to the Cardinals, as you are the UCB resident expert in that field.

With the progress of the walrus, and Freese twiddling his thumbs in AAA, does anyone else think we should at least try and trade Glaus while his stock is high?

Apparently, the Cardinals are one of the teams who are interested in Escobar, but because the Braves are using Yunel as a centerpiece for Jake Peavy, everything’s on hold until something happens with that.

Now that Holliday is dead, can we refocus on Escobar? Getting a cost controlled gold glove caliber SS whose offense is likely to improve gives you payroll flexibility in 2009 and even more so in 2010. In theory, you could replace Ludwick’s production with someone like Raul Ibanez and still have enough payroll room to sign Lopez for 2B, and two LH relievers (from Marte, Ohman, Beimel, Affeldt).

Norrick can get it up to 92-93 but you are correct, average breaking ball and not much else. Myeh.

interesting info on available lefty relievers. the guy i am really gung-ho for is affeldt; i think he could be a real force in our pen. there are some other names that are quite intriguing though. dennys reyes is an interesting guy on the big league front. from the minors, i gotta say i would be interested in taking a flier on andy sisco. the former high school teammate of blake hawksworth has upside, and it would be worth a minor league invite to see what he can do.

what’s the scouting report of tyler norrick? if memory serves correct, i’ve heard he has a good arm, so-so breaking ball. can anyone elaborate? furnish is a loogy; don’t pull another haberer on us. just convert him next year so we have some depth from the left side….my opinion.
