Beyond the Boxscore crunches the numbers and finds you can field a team made up entirely of minor league free agents and be about as good as the Reds were last year. I’d love to see Mo take a flyer on R.J. Swindle.

Catching up on Justin Fiske’s blog, Brad Furnish takes his turn as a guest blogger. The AFL season will be over on Thursday.

Puerto Rican Winter League

  • P.J. Walters was roughed up, allowing 5 runs (4 ER) on 5 hits and 2 walks over 4 innings. He struck out 5 and was also charged with a balk.
  • Bryan Anderson, splitting time between 1B and C went 1-for-4 and allowed a stolen base. I think it’s pretty cool both of these players are getting a shot to show their talents to Jose Oquendo.

Dominican Winter League

  • Amaury Marti went 2-for-4. Amaury encourages the use of steroids. It’s a way to help level the playing field with him.

Erik, I disagree with the steroid comment.

Steroids seem to be getting a bad name in professional sports lately, when in actuality there are no “steroid users.” They are actually players who have come in contact with Amaury Marti.

It appears Mr. Marti is touching everyone he can find so that he’ll actually have some competition to play against.

Kelvin Jimenez was claimed off waivers by the White Sox today. What can you say, the guy is in high demand.
