Greene strikes out entirely too much. I doubt he can succeed in the majors without making contact far more than he does.
Also, interesting question: who do you think will end up being the better offensive player, Rasmus or Wallace? (Not better overall player, just offensive)
I am a little concerned about Wallace’s splits against left-handers. The last time I looked he was 1-10 against lefties with 5 strikeouts ( .321 vs. RH ). I have not seen his splits in the minors, but the AFL stats suggest improvement or that he will be a platoon player particularly initially at higher levels.
As far as a comparison between Rasmus and Wallace… that may be an apples/oranges deal…. Rasmus is potentially a five-tool player… Bret is not. As far as pure hitting goes, you might have to give the nod to Wallace, given his performance thus far.
wallace seems to get hbp more than a catcher’s mitt.
allan…i found wallace’s splits from his senior year at ASU…he definitely does not hit lefties as well as righties, but he still put up a .364/.495/.739 line against them in 88 at bats…he actually had a higher hr% against lefites than righties
spence, probably because of his HUGE lower half sticks out over the plate :)
