No, he’s not going to set the world on fire, but Antonio DeJesus has a few things going for him:
- 15% walk rate, .87 walk to strikeout ratio last season at Palm Beach
- + 16 runs in 85 games playing center field. He also was rated by Baseball America as the SEC’s best defensive outfielder in college.
- Plus speed.
I would say his upside is a .255/.350/.355 hitter with fantastic defense. That’s not really good enough to be a regular, but for a 5th outfielder, I’ll take it. Not shabby for a 16th round pick.

Allen Craig wins out at #14, with Niko close enough behind to give him the #15 spot. Seems about right to me, although if you don’t start voting for Adam Reifer, you might find yourself getting plunked with a 98 MPH fastball when you least expect it. It could happen in the restroom, in the breakroom, or while you’re sitting at your cubicle at work. It could happen on the drive home… Just remember, with every vote you give to someone else, Adam Reifer’s hatred towards you grows.

2009 #1 Draft Prospect Stephen Strasburg
Now that its February it means we are getting close to baseball. Pitcher and Catchers will be reporting in a couple weeks, and college ball gets underway on Friday the 20th. With all that in mind, its a great time to kick off this year’s draft coverage. We are starting off today with the initial Future Redbirds top 30 draft prospect lists. Of course there will be plenty of movement in these rankings as we make our way toward June, but this list should give you a good idea of some guys to keep track of as the games get under way.

Looks like we won’t be seeing Scott Gorgen for a while. He’s undergoing shoulder surgery. No other details at the moment.
