That's great news, particularly since he pitched well in that game. It has been said that PJ could hit 90 but chooses to pitch beneath that. If he can use an average fastball and still have the control/durability, he's definitely a prospect and a decent option for a long man if not 5th starter.

Yes Matt, PJ started the Cards game in Memphis against the AAA team and was sitting 89-91 with his FB. Don't know how or why he gained velo but was happy to see it.

The article says Walters "has more velocity on his fastball than expected from a starter who steadily climbed the system with his changeup." Has he added some mph to his fastball or is it still in the 84-87 range?

I too think Kinney will be the one down longer. Thompson went down now because we needed room for two people immediately. Kinney will go down when Walters is called up and then Thompson will be recalled when Walters is sent down. By Thompson going down now he can be sent up sooner.

I would have to believe that Kinney may be going down. It appears that he has some issues to work out. Maybe he can do this at Memphis. Just needs to get his slider back.

If Josh Kinney doesnt figure out his release point soon, I gotta think he is the one that goes down.

I know he helped you win the 2006 WS TLR, but he is helping you lose games now.

Let him go down, workout that hiccup in his delivery and release point..he is not getting on top of the slider what-so-ever.

CardsMan-

I actually think that Rasmus is getting plenty of playing time so they can evaluate if he is ready to play everyday for a contender by the trade deadline. Given his history of slow starts, he definitely needs PT to figure out the major league level. If they are in contention with Rasmus ready to take over CF, I think Rick is traded no matter what. If they are in contention and don't think Colby is quite ready, then Rick stays. If the team is out of contention I think Rick is gone anyway.

I think the ideal is to be incontention; Colby playing well; have Glaus back and hitting; and trade Rick for a solid B/B+ pitching prospect or something to reinforce a pennant run (ML relief pitcher and a lessor prospect) at the deadline.

Does this mean that I have to read about puppy kicker in the memphis box scores...Alas, I guess it is better than reading about him in the StL box scores.
