That’s what it looks like to me, too. In the last week, he’s been walked or HBP in a full 33% of his plate appearances, for a hilarious .150/.433/.200 line… though only one of the walks was an IBB.

It was indeed the Braves… for Blaine Boyer. Look up his stats and what scouts see him as. I don’t get it. Our AA guys are better.

Barton was traded. I believe it was to the Braves.

Maiques is don in this organization. He needs a change of scenery–a new philosphy… It is really sad, as he has displayed the tools to become a major leaguer in the past good fastball/plus slider–but it is all gone. The most utter destruction of a prospect I have seen in a long while.

Is this implying that Barton went into orbit?

Loss of command/control is one of those things that some people have suggested may herald a UCL blowout about to happen. Any chance that that’s what’s going on with Maiques?

I’m starting to think Maiques is done. It’s early, I know but he was bad all year last year and really didn’t deserve to be in AA anyway.

Maiques is in trouble. 13 walks in just below 4 IP is beyond abysmal. There’s no word for it. 33 walks in 27 IP last year in high-A was troubling enough, and it’s not as if he has a K:IP ratio to compensate. He’s going to be 24 in two months, so it’s not as if he’s still a young guy for that level trying to figure it out.

They’ll give Samuel plenty of opportunities in Springfield to figure it out, but he will have no consistent success in climbing above that level if he can’t start to locate better. He at least has the K rate to maintain success, unlike Maiques; however, Samuel may have to start sacrificing velocity for location. I still need to see him pitch.

The pitching for Springfield early this season is going to be brutal. Quite a different look from where it was in April of last year.

I think Kenny Maiques will be moved back to Palm Beach soon as well he is leading the Texas League in BB by 5 in 3.2 IP and he had trouble last year walking 43 and hitting 10 guys in his 35 IP last year, also the financial aspect of him pitching bad in Double-A costs them games which costs them money, while pitching bad in Florida where they don’t draw doesn’t.

I would like Eduardo Sanchez to get on the super fast track and see what he could do at a young age in the Texas League since he hasn’t been hit hard at all since making his US debut.
