Shane Robinson has returned to Memphis with the activation of Chris Carpenter. Someone else will be going down when/if Rick Ankiel is activated, more than likely Stavinoha.

What is going on with Reifer? Is he hurt?
Honestly Nick Stavinoha needs a break. They guy gets brough up and down and just when he gets to play in two games and shows a couple hits he is being sent back down again. Really messess with a players performance. Don’t be surprised if Nick Stavinoha winds up with another team and finds him self in the bigs next year. The guy just needs to play. Perhaps if we get to July and the season is blown or Ankiel is traded he gets brought up.
Hmmm….hate to break it to you but Nick Stavinoha’s ceiling is as a 5th of.
Singles hitting outfielders who can’t run, have limited range, no power, and don’t take walks usually don’t do well in the majors.
Think Aaron Miles but bigger and less gritty.
What’s weird is, that’s what Stavinoha looks like too; a bigger, thicker Aaron Miles.
Another nice effort by Kopp. It would be nice to see him really get on a roll and earn a promotion to Springfield.
Kozma seems to be having a tough time in AA, but he does seem to be having some bad luck too. He has a .232 BABIP w/ a 19% line drive rate which is better than any stop besides high A this year when he had a 25% line drive rate. One noticeable problem is his BB% is down to 5.5% easily his worst outside of Batavia. His K rate is also down to 15.1% second lowest of his career. He has some good things going for him and some poor things going for him but right now it seems he is making contact with more balls than he has in the past (less BB and less K imply that he has to be making his outs on BIP) yet those balls aren’t finding any holes what so ever.
Whats up with all the Kozma errors? I’ve never seen him play. Does he have a ton of range or is he just a bad defender? I thought they said he was pretty good with the glove.
My two favorite Adams aren’t performing as well as I’d hoped they would. Reifer’s BABIP is an awful .467, though his poor results can’t all be blamed on bad luck. His K’s are down significantly at Palm Beach and his walks are slightly up. His GB% has also dropped a ton(56% to 35%). He must be giving up a lot of line drives, which could help explain the bad BABIP. All in all, I don’t think he’s pitching quite as badly as his ERA would indicate, but he’s still not pitching well(FIP 5.09). He may need to go down to Quad Cities to work out his kinks. He skipped low A alltogether.
Adam Veres has a nice ERA but his walks are up a lot. His K’s have dropped at every level, but he is still striking out more than 9/9IP, which is nice for a starter. I’d love to see him cut down on his BB; 19 in 29 and 2/3 isn’t good enough. He is pitching worse than his ERA would indicate(FIP 4.62 with a BABIP of .299). I do like his K’s though, and would not hate it if the Cards pushed him to Palm Beach to see if he can handle it.
What’s Descalso’s hit streak up to now… around 173 games?
@gobirds: more like 2 :)
Excuse my language, but DJ is the mutherfrackin’ man!
Kozmanaut, not so much.
I support the use of Kozmanaut. That’s the first time I’ve caught the reference though probably not the first time you’ve used it.
It’s almost . . . too legit to quit. Almost.
@Hugo: so 173 game hit streak… give or take 171. ;D
Speaking of sophomore slumps for closers, whatever happened to Mountain Dew?
Mr. Dew finds himself on the d-l.
Arkansas? Arkansas, HL? Are you sure this team isn’t, say, from the Northwest part of the state?
and i like that 7:1 K:BB rate, mr. kopp.
