After reviewing the draft I think they got a steal when Adam Heisler slipped to th45th rd. We played South Alabama this year and could not get him out. His stats were great in the sunbelt hir .390 and can run 6.5 in 60. Cards have low balled him with offer still has sr. year. Cards should throw some more money his way and sign him to play CF. Same school as P.J.Walters and David Frieese well coached.

The Pirates have signed RHP Tyler Herron as a minor league free agent and assigned him to AA Altoona. Herron was released from the Cardinals organization on June 3rd. He was the Cardinals supplemental 1st Round Pick in 2005 (the “sandwich” round), selected 46th overall (as compensation for the Card’s loss of C Mike Matheny). He signed for $675,000.

Kyle (Illinois): What was your take on the Cardinals draft?

Jim Callis: Loved the Shelby Miller pick at No. 19, as stated. Not sure I buy Southern California’s Robert Stock (second round) as a catcher, but he may be an interesting pitcher if he’s willing to do that. Relievers Joe Kelly (third) and Scott Bittle (fourth) could get to St. Louis quick. Rest of the draft looks solid, but the definite highlight was stealing Miller at No. 19. That, and former BA staffer Matt Blood getting four draftees in his first year as a Cardinals area scout.

the more that the club reaches to sign bighames and fellows like him, the more credibility they gain. there’s a lot to like about this draft.

i do wish that we had more potential starting pitchers than relievers, but all in all i like this draft a lot.

6.1 is unreal. i don’t think i have ever seen a prospect clocked that low. dude has good pop too. i can’t wait to see how he does.

here’s a scouting report from perfect game, who gives him a perfect 10/10 rating.

Tyler Bighames is a 2009 SS with a 6’2”, 198 lb. frame from Estero, FL who attends Estero. Tyler has a strong athletic build, good balance and actions in infield, good arm strength, comes in on ball well. Good balance in swing, very good strength, attacks ball, very good bat speed, impressive BP, good games swings, ball jumps off bat, 95 off bat in games, very interesting player both in the field and at the plate.

I meant at an amatuer level…It seems like something you could get a good read on and see if it is relative at some of the showcase type events.
