"Yonathan Gonzalez"? Man, just when I get used to Chrysanthemum Linares and Arquimedes Nieto, along comes another Latino kid with an outlandish name.

This makes up for the Cards passing on some of the cool names in the draft. Oh how I wish we could have gotten Splitter McStrikethrower!

Per the first comment, Gorgen really is on a good stretch of performances...has me wondering where people see him (talent wise)...and how much of a factor the PB field/conditions are helping him. PB is usually hard for me to interpret and get excited about, but Peterson, Smith (like to see him be more selective at the plate), and Chambers are opening eyes. I've been a Sedbrook follower for awhile now and I think he is salvaging his season after a non-factor start. Pham, Curtis, and Reifer are killing me, though...high expectations that haven't clicked yet. Look enigma up in Websters and you see a photo of Reifer. We'll see if he pulls out of it or maybe he's playing hurt...tough to assess.

Ahmedy pitched for Fresno, so I assume he has the arm strength to be a solid catcher. The makeup is concerning, though. He must be very talented to get suspended from his college team multiple times and still get drafted as highly as he did.

I will be watching Ryan Jackson closely. I know stats in SS ball are meaningless in the long run but if he shows life with the bat, it will be exciting. I imagine he and Nico will only be splitting time for a little while, and whoever performs best will be moved up to QC. Either way, it seems like Jackson should start next season in Palm Beach, with Vasquez at QC for another round.

I see Ahmady is listed as a catcher. I'm not sure if he played C often at Fresno St. but if he could make that happen, that would definitely be a plus.
