Quick pinch-hit on the DFR. Springfield was off and AAA had their All-Star game which included Jess Todd.
- Jess Todd finished off the game retiring the last two International League hitters on groundouts.
- The Palm Beach Cardinals were 1-hit with Oliver Marmol recording the only hit (a double). The team managed 1 walk.
- Chuckie Fick was blasted for 7 hits and 6 ER in 3 innings.
- Brad Furnish’s struggles continue with 3 hits, 2 walks and 2K for 1 ER in 2 innings.
- Alex Castellanos was 1-for-4 with a triple and a walk. He’s putting up a solid .276/.354/.453 line this year.
- Matt Carpenter was 2-for-3 with a double and 2 walks.
- Osvaldo Morales was 1-for-3 with 2 walks.
- Jason Stidham was 2-for-3 with a double.
- Arquimedes Nieto hurled 7 innings allowing 8 hits and 4 ER. He walked 1 and struck out 3. Nieto fell to 1-8 on the year.
- D’Marcus Ingram was 2-for-4 with a triple and a walk.
- Alan Ahmady continues to hit with a 3-for-5 effort. His batting average is up to .348 on the season.
- Big night for Ryde Rodriguez who went 3-for-5 with 2 doubles and a HR. He had 3 RBIs. Quad Cities proved to be too much for Rodriguez but Batavia has him posting a .826 line thus far. At 21, he’s still got some time but needs to begin advancing at a steady pace.
- Niko Vasquez was 1-for-4 and fell back remained below the Mendoza line. (Edit: Still an awful showing from Vasquez this season.)
- Tyler Lavigne struck out 3 over 2 innings allowing 1 ER on 3 hits.
- Deryk Hooker was touched up for 3 ER in 3.2 IP.
- Yunier Castillo was 2-for-5.
- CJ Beatty was 2-for-4 with a double.
- Raco Racobaldo and Matthew Adams both had 3 hit nights with a double and HR.
- Jesse Simpson struck out 3 in 4 scoreless frames allowing 4 hits and 1 unearned run.
- Jose Rada struck out 3 and walked 1 allowing 1 hit in his inning of work.

Going 1-for-4 dropped Niko below .200?
You people and your math, says the engineer.
Why can’t Quad Cities manufacture runs, so many lost opportunities in last nights game?
Is Matt Carpenter the guy drafted last month?
Yes.
I’m a little confused, Nieto from Quad Cities gives up 3 ER, in 3 innins, 5 hits,( 2 triples, 2 singles and a double, 1 K. He went on to give up 8 hits and 4ERs total, another walk and it goes down as he hurled a great game. Furnish struggles continue with 2 walks 3 hits, 2 k’s, 1 ER in 2 innings.
How is this so different? Aside from the walking?
By thje way I do agree the Nieto pitched okay, I think Dillard left him in one inning to long. I just don’t understand the bashing of Furnish and others, when if you’d have taken Nietos first 3 innings he would have given up more earned than Furnish.
Who said Nieto hurled a great game? Shaky outing from him too.
The “bashing” on Furnish is he’s been around for quite a bit and still hasn’t put it together. Time’s running out.
Matt Carpenter, Robert Stock, and Luna would be great guys to do prospect profiles on. I would love more info on these guys. All seems to be moving up the prospect list charts.
Matt Adams also went 3-5 at JC with a double and a homer. He has 5 homers already this year.
matt carpenter’s BABIP had been hovering around .500 at both of his stop this year…get the feeling we are in store for a comedown soon
I apologize to all. Someone apparently slipped seafood into our chinese last night and the sickness that followed was disasterous.
Hang in there, HL.
ugh…sorry HL…hope you feel better soon…food poisoning is the worst
Carpenter’s BABIP at Batavia was above .500 but at QC his BABIP is at .429 which isn’t totally unreasonable for a 28% Line Drive rate. Now whether a 28% line drive rate is sustainable is another question.
The promotion to QC to start 2009 for Ryde was aggressive but I wonder if the team did not pull the plug and demote him a bit prematurely. He only 68 ABs @ Quad Cities.

This kid has the potential to be the right handed corner outfield power bat the team is in search of. Would love to see him start ascending up the system.
ryde – power bat? Not unless he changes his swing. He’s got the size but it is not translating into power that well.
No matter what his BABIP is, Carpenter is 23 1/2. By comparison, Stavinoha was 6 months younger than Carpenter is now when we drafted him in 2005. Stavinoha’s success at QC that year was, in retrospect, very much related to the fact he was older than the guys he was playing against.
Let’s wait and see if Carpenter is tearing up AA and AAA pitching a year from now. If he is, okay, that might be worth getting excited about.
Would it be possible to get our resident experts take on a Halladay trade involving our prospects? Like, would you guys agree with a trade and if so, involving who or who you would think it would take (aside from Wallace) or if you just totally disagree altogether.
I’m trying to wrap my mind around this whole thing and i’m not expert, or even really knowledgable, but i feel like i know enough to want to acquire Halladay.
Sorry is this has already been address soemwhere or if it is a dumb request altogether.
How about this start from stidham? Amazing. Where is he playing defensively?
Stiham played in the outfield last night, the announcer said that they are trying him at many different positions. He played well both defensively and offensively. Doubt if hell be with the Bandits very long…
Am I missing something on Stidham? he’s had a good start considering the level but certainly not great.
