@jjray and Vols - 2 months ago Craig wasn't the better option than Stav. Stav has been a great pinch hitter and won a few games for us. I am just trying to make the point that this huge uproar over Craig is just because he is hot. Why not let him hit rather than just bring him up to be a pinch hitter when Stav is doing well in that role?

If it was a matter of Thurston starting or Craig I would be screaming for Craig too. But DeRosa is at 3rd so leave Craig in Memphis and let Stav pinch hit since he is having success.

Arqimedes Nieto a legitimate prospect at this point? He looked good the one time I saw him in the WBC albeit still raw (which is to be expected).

@themop10 Craig isn't a youngster anymore (turned 25 in July). They've given Stavinoha extended time in STL this season yet Craig is a better prospect who can play more positions. Craig's role would be utility infielder / outfielder. The Cards need a power right handed bat on the bench (and a cost controlled one at that). Joe Mather was that guy but he is hurt. Craig is a better option than Stavi in many people's eyes.

Why is everyone screaming for Craig to be in the majors. He isn't going to play over DeRosa. When we traded for DeRosa Craig wasn't hitting that well anyways. Craig a month ago was on the disappointing prospect list. No one remembers that! Leave Craig playing everyday. Let him and Freese compete for a job next spring if we don't sign DeRosa. If we do sign DeRosa keep one as a bench player and trade the other guy.

I hope Stock sticks at catcher. Isn't Molina in the second year of a four year deal anyways. There is a lot of time for Stock to develop and Molina to digress. Plus Molina isn't exactly hitting like he was in April. I love, LOVE Molina's defense but still think there is a lot of room for improvement at the plate. He has no power and no speed. Unless there are guys in scoring position he isn't a factor at all.

I still really like our farm system's ability to produce major league caliber players. We don't have the impact players we did. But if, THE BIG IF, we resign Holliday we won't need any more impact players. You have Pujols, Holliday, Ludwick, Rasmus. That's the core of a great lineup.

What is in Craig's future? If Stav gets a chance, certainly he gets a chance, right?

Stock sounds awesome so far. I hope PJ keeps it up...we need pitchers who can get people out at the AAA level

samuel is having some control issues that he and the coaching staff are working on. confidence level has dropped. sanchez was an excellent closer coming up in the rookie levels. i've made plenty of comments/suggestions that he should be used more as a closer rather than a middle reliever or a starter (like last season). he seems to handle the situation a lot better than many.

mateo's contract doesn't start until next season for him to play pro ball. he will be either play in instructional league in florida and/or dominican winter league coming up in sept. cards used a big chunk of change on him, really doubt there was any plans to play him in dsl or gcl this season.
