  1. cariocacardinal says:

PB had the day off and Luna didn’t play for Springfield and isn’t on their roster yet but no reason to think he isn’t going to move.

TheCardinalNation.com has Moscatel jumping from the GCL to PB – a very surprising move. They also have that Martinez and Richardson were released from Batavia – so that’s 3 more.

JC had the day off but neither Teran or Rodriguez were in the GCL lineup tonight and them moving up to JC to replace Rocobaldo and Adams would make sense. so I’ll guess there is 2 more.

there needs to be 2 moves at Springfield for Mulligan and Luna’s spots so that will get you to 25!

  2. Dave Beanhead says:

Luna flew out today also, will be activated on the Springfield roster tomm. With Vazquez on the DL and Murphy also injured they brought Moscatel up from GCL Cardinals since he was already there in PB. Great outing Nick Additon, it was great to see you recover from you shakey debute at AA and come back strong!!!

  3. jack618 says:

Looks like the Redbirds got their win against Gil Meche, which is good to see even if they only scored two of their runs against him. He was down there rehabbing his back injury, apparently.

  4. Phil says:

    Memphis released 2B Casey Rowlett

Batavia received RHP Jesse Simpson, RHP Justin Smith, 1B Matt Adams and OF Michael Swinson from Johnson City

  5. fpslackers says:

Shame that Jon Edwards hasn’t really turned into anything good. He was always one of my pet prospects.

  6. Dave Beanhead says:

I’m also very dissapointed that Edwards and Mitchell were sent down to Batavia. Also, a bummer that Beau Riportella hasn’t had a good season since his rookie year. No surprise about Domnit Bolivar being sent down with 25+ errors at PB. I hope Chuckie Fick has a better outing next time.

  7. whopperman says:

Ottavino was two different pitchers tonight.

    He faced 25 batters.

He started out behind 1-0 nine times, in which he got three outs, walked four, and gave up a single and a homer.

He started out ahead 0-1 13 times, getting seven strikeouts, two double plays, and allowed no hits and one walk.

There were three one-pitch at-bats, with a single, a flyout, and a hit batter.

I know the pitcher will always do better when he gets ahead in the count, but that’s just one of those things you hope he can pick up how important it is. Ahead, 14 outs and one baserunner in 13 PA’s, behind, six baserunners and three outs in nine PA’s… Sometimes it’s a pretty simple game…

  8. RobertoRydeWagner says:

Good to see these adjustments to test how players respond at a different level. Conley did not belong at Quad Cities, nor Curtis at Palm Beach. Edwards gets a message he has to improve. Guys like Ryde earn promotions. Good.

  9. tom s. says:

I haven’t seen tony cruz’s name in a long while. Has his bat really been this quiet? Any updates on him?

Memphis is going to be a very quiet place for catchers next year until anderson comes back. With maybe cruz and yarbrough. Maybe we get another justin knoedler type depth catcher pickup?

  10. Grant says:

Is anyone else having problems with MiLB.com tonight? I can’t check out any of the box scores, for some reason.

All these moves should add some excitement to the DFR’s for the rest of the season. Can’t wait to see how some of these guys respond to promotions.

  11. David says:

@whooper – how did Ottavino get 14 outs and give up one baserunner with only 13 PAs? I am confused.

Your point was excellent though. I hope the coaches are really encouraging him and showing him that statistic. Hopefully he can gain some major confidence from that.

  12. Phil says:

    @David 2 double plays

  13. Gruntosaurus says:

I wonder if Brad Thompson is a good comparable for Casey Mulligan, not so much in what he throws but in the way it works. PK was highly effective in the minors without having stuff that blew guys away. I’ve heard the same said of Mulligan. Note that even though Thompson isn’t highly regarded (ahem) on the major-league roster, this is still pretty much a thumbs up on Mulligan; Thompson may not be Tim Lincecum, but he’s not Kelvin Jimenez either, and he’s been useful at the back end of the bullpen/rotation. If Mulligan turns out to be as useful, he’ll have achieved more than his draft slot (22nd round!) would lead one to expect.

  14. Ricky says:

hey do we know of anymore moves???

  15. lboros says:

if it hasn’t already started: can i launch the Michael Swinson bandwagon? 12th-round pick last year out of a georgia HS, only 19 yrs old, 5-tool profile —– had a rotten debut in GCL last year but apparently made great strides in the fall instructional league. he was promoted to Batavia yesterday and hit a double in four AB.

    • erik says:

I’ll join the bandwagon, lb. I heard someone compare him to Daryl Jones, only Daryl Jones was never hitting like this when he was 19.

  16. lboros says:

oh, and while i’m at it — let’s launch the Fred Parejo bandwagon too (if’n it hasn’t already been launched). a venezuelan product, only 18 years old and holding his own in the Midwest League —- 10 percent walk rate, low K rate, good power considering his age (ISO is about .110). hung in there at age 17 last year in the NY/Penn League (.278 / .328 / .330) . . . . i think this guy is one of D Goold’s favorites.

  17. jjray says:

I’m on the Parejo bandwangon. Better assign this committee to an oversized model as we’re likely to have ocmpany.

  18. Red Blazer says:

What happened to Arnolid Cruzs’ bat?

  19. NolaOwl says:

Free Tyler Henley – at least, promote him to Memphis!

  20. HL says:

I’ve got the Ryde Rodriguez bandwagon motoring along, only because he’s got the sweetest name in awhile.

  21. Does Jess Todd getting called up to the Indians count too? :)

  22. RobertoRydeWagner says:

HL: Ryde thanks you for your kind support. Roberto and Wagner say hi, too.
