I just found out that most of our minor league teams broadcasts there games over the internet so i was listening to about 5 games like a nut all day today. I posted this before but I just found out this Amaury Marti is a real guy, he was playing in Mexican but his season ended I think, anyone know what hes doing now? He got a legit chance to play in the Cardinals system again?

    • Jeff Roman says:

He’s back at the team’s spring training home working out and rehabbing a minor injury I think.

The team is trying to decide where to send him next.

  2. Andrew says:

Something to note Eric Fornataro pitched a good 2 or 3 innings of 1 hit ball before the wheels fell off. Also no one mentioned David Kopp pitched 5.2 innings of 2 hit ball.

  3. sluhser says:

An organization can never have too many power hitting first basemen with no prospect of changing positions. God bless ya Scruggs and Adams!

  4. Vallon says:

yea kopp pitched great like 8ks in almost 6 innings. p.j is lookin pretty good 14 k game, then 13 then 8, all givingg up 2 runs or fewer. justin smith is tearing it up strikeout wise this year. anyone looked at his numbers it sick. dont know the scouting report on him though.

  5. Andrew says:

Despite losing 6 of our 10 closest MLB ready prospects, the more I look into it the more I like our lower system and some possible players of the future. Anyone know if the Cardinals still have plans for Mitch Harris when he gets out of the Navy and if he will be able to leave early? Luhnow and company seem to have a knack of taking players in lower rounds that if developed correctly can contribute in a big way.

  6. VolsnCards5 says:

i think the org singed harris…but he’s got two more years in the navy to go…probably without pitching…hopefully it works out for him

aaron luna is a very very interesting prospect

  7. Gruntosaurus says:

Is there any chance of converting Joshua Squatrito to catcher? That’s a catcher’s last name if I ever heard one.

  8. Scott says:

Is Aaron Luna a legit second baseman? I remember on draft day everyone saying his bat would play well at second, but every time I look at his box scores he’s DHing.

If he can put up a ~.800 OPS as a second baseman but is Uggla-like in his defense, he can still be a 1.5-2.0 win player.

  9. Matt says:

I get back from my honeymoon and everyone’s gone! C-Dunc, Todd, Walrus, ClayMort… but I am still optimistic.

We lost Wallace, but it looks like David Freese really wants to be our 3B of the future again. In Todd’s absence, it looks like P.J. Walters has stepped up his game. And since when have Allen Craig’s numbers looked this good?? Throw in a successful Jaime Garcia rehab and I’m just as excited about next year’s rankings as I was this year’s.

We had better get Shelby Miller signed, then work on locking up Holliday, or start scouting intensively who we’re going to take with the Yankees’ first-rounder next year.

  10. bookerd says:

Please can we end the Gary Daley project, I was rooting for him to turn it, but now I am done. He is a gas can!! Fornataro was cruising along thru 3 innings, then the wheels fell off and he couldn’t get an out.

Andrew, this is a tweet from Luhnow a few days ago RE: Marti:

“Marti-Cazana season over in Mexico. 247 ab – .356/.417/.599. Heading back to Jupiter to nurse hand injury… will see from there”

I know Jeff already answered your question but I figured you would like some info from the man himself. Looks like he hit well in Mexico this year, it will be interesting to see what he can do if he joins one of our minor league affiliates.

  12. southeast redbird says:

The Palm Beach Cardinals played an awesome game under the watchful eye of the GM and entourage, who was in town to watch Garcia pitch the night before.

  13. go birds says:

Ok, so is Arkansas the only team Springfield plays or is this just an ongoing joke?

  14. Double A says:

“…but I just found out this Amaury Marti is a real guy…”

For some reason, that really cracked me up. Sasquatch…Loch Ness…the Easter Bunny…Marti-Cazana…good stuff. :)

I vote we ship him to Honduras to settle the turmoil there.
