Hopefully our coaches see the same thing and the situation is being corrected. Being at a game what is your impression of Sanchez is he as good as everyone thinks he is? I would be really interested hearing a scouting report from someone who has seen Sanchez in person. Norrick too, the annoucers always talk abotu how talented his is but how he has no control.

I was at the game. Samuel was not squeezed. He just really has a hard time knowing where the ball is going. He gets upset very easily also if things doesn't go his way. He was lucky Tulsa did not get more than they did last night.

Samuel throws hard and his pitches do have movement, but until he can get better command and control his emotions he needs to stay where he is at.

At a game a few weeks ago against Northwest Arkansas he was even tipping his fastball. One of their players is Vance Wilson an ex major league catcher trying to rehab. After his AB(a home run) I saw him telling the next 2 guys waiting to bat what to watch for. I watched for the same thing and sure enough he was. After that game and one more he made an adjustment.

Anway I just think Samuel has a ways to go and hopefully he figures it out.

Is there really any timetable on pitchers? I know the clock ticks when it comes to adding guys to the 40-man and protecting them from the Rule 5 draft, and then we have minor-league free agency after 6 years. But in terms of their development, it happens when it happens. Does anyone care that Hawksworth is 26?

That said, Sanchez, just 20, is a pretty exciting prospect. (And in looking up his age, I discovered his middle name is Nazareth. Love to know if there's a story behind that.)

Yea Its Sanchez that is 20, I got the ages confused. I went back and watched the Gameday pitch tracker of Samuels inning last night. Honestly not bad at all, the walk was a 10 pitch at bat were he kind of got squeezed on the ball 4 pitch. The next pitch was were he hit the guy.

I drove down last night from Denver to Colorado Springs to watch the Redbirds. During the bottom of the first, the skies opened up and deluged Security Service Field with torrential rain and hail. The hail blocked the field drains and at one point the water was about 10 inches deep in front of the Redbird dugout. Once the rain had subsided the Memphis players came out of the locker room, congregated on the concourse, and began launching snowballs at each other. What a sight watching professional baseball players acting like kids throwing snowballs at each other in the middle of August. It was a great opportunity to mingle with the players and talk with them and collect autographs. I spent about ten minutes talking with Jarrett Hoffpauir. He was extremely personable as we talked about playing in various Triple A parks. I then asked him what was it like when he was called up to St Louis, was there a special moment? He looked out onto the rain and hail soaked field and said no, not one thing, it was all special. You could just feel his sense of pride of getting the call up. I also spoke with Ian Ostlund, Josh Kinney, Allen Craig, David Freese, Tyler Greene and had a great conversation with Royce Ring. The game was ultimately suspended but this is one of the most memorable nights I have ever spent at a ballpark.
