Shaneo, I think the Cardinals will give Lugo every chance seeing as how he’s virtually free of cost. We’ve got six more weeks plus postseason to see if he’s a steal or not.

Seems like Riefer’s resurgence came about the time Mulligan got promoted.

Lugo’s hitting .190 in his last 10 games, he’ll be 34 in Nov. I’d rather have J-Ho and Tyler Greene on the roster next year in place of Khalil and Lugo.

David Freese appears to be back as he is hitting well now for Memphis. He’s a non glamour prospect but he still strikes me as the best bet to play as well or better than DeRosa at third base next year. He’s considered the best of the candidates (Mather and Craig) defensively and he hit well enough to be in most people’s top ten last year. I have a feeling that he’ll get slighted in most lists this year even with our diluted talent pool but he really shouldn’t. His crummy season can be totally attributed to injury and he appears to have overcome it.

I agree that Cutler and Carpenter are starting to stroke the ball again….they went through a mini slump in August and I hope that last night was their “break-out” night. PB needs to win nearly every game from now until the end of the season to make the playoffs, and hitting will play a major role in the success of PB. The minor leagues don’t have the luxury of putting the “best and hottest” players on the field every night because ALL of the players need to to be evaluated in order for the management to determine who is to be kept, cut , promoted or demoted in the system. I understand concept of equal playing time….but I sure like to win!

Both cutler and carpenter are putting together tremendous seasons. Both seem to be doing well in PB. Any chance carpenter starts the year in spfld? With wallace traded, freese likely to join the ML team, and craig moving to LF, our 3B depth has been decimated in the high minors. Cutler is probably going to be slowed to work on his D.

It’s harder and harder to see hoff’s role with lugo on the squad. A RH platoon partner to skip or descalso makes some sense. But Lugo seems to have the lock on that spot. 2b is a weak link for a lot of teams. The hoff has a bat. Somebody’s gotta be curious enough about it to send us a depth guy for him.
