Red October-
I saw Swauger play a couple of times in QC before he got promoted. He was the best position player on the team at that time (Niko was on the team, but really struggling at that time). Was aggressive, had a nice swing. Decent athlete. I didn't think much of him before I saw him because he was a late round pick, but now that I've seen him he is one of my sleepers to keep an eye on.

Why not just be happy with the nice transition King has made? There is no need to bring up a player just to bring up a player, if he was closer to 5 year draft (like Daley) he would have been brought up. A player should always finish a season on a good note, why have to readjust a few weeks before end of season?

I am just wondering why you state who deserves a promotion and who does not. Are you part of the organization?

I think the fact that he was still in AAA after how bad his first half was shows that the Organization sees him as a real talent and possibility a part of there future.

Re: Michael--I can only hope this organization doesn't treat Ott like the Giants treated Nathan. Probably one of the worst trades in baseball history is that Giants/Twins trade. Would've have been even more lopsided if Liriano would have stayed healthy. FL was so so good before his elbow gave out. We're talking Cy Young types of dominance in 06.

Either way, for those who claimed Ottavino is done or a bust, I think it's imperative to remember that the scale of maturity and 'learning how to pitch' is not universal. 25 at the start of 2011? Sounds okay to me.

The bullpen in Springfield currently is Daley, Mulligan, Samuel and Sanchez, with Norrick being called up to Memphis a week ago. Daley, Mulligan and Sanchez have been lights out the entire time they have been in Springfield and Samuel had 22 saves before losing his job to Sanchez. King isnt needed in Springfield this year and really theres no need to promote him yet let him get his first full season of reliefing under his belt before you move him to Springfield.

Wasn't Ott an All-Star at Palm Beach in 2007, his first full season? So really last season was rough and the first half this season. He'll be 24 at the start of next season and seems on pace to be with the big club in 2011 - 2012 at the latest. Seems to me he's right on track.

Scott et al, plus one on Ottavino. He's been a puzzling prospect but I think he has a higher ceiling than Mortenson did. Also someone recently pointed out similarities in his build and minor league career to Joe Nathan. Nathan did almost nothing until he turned it around in the majors at age 28. Now nobody can predict that Ott or anyone will do that but it's a reminder that "stuff" sometimes takes a long time to translate into success and maybe a change in role would facitlitate that for Ott.

Despite King's walks he still has a WHIP of just over 1. That is pretty great considering his K rate. Plus you can't score with 3 walks in an inning but you sure can with 3 hits. It will be interesting to see how his BAA holds against stiffer competition. Can he keep it so low? Will more patient/professional hitters walk more as well?

A promotion for King could be in order but it could kill him as well. If he gives up more hits against better competition and more walks because guys don't swing as much he will fall off the map quickly.
