Wellemeyer threw .2 innings, not 2. Makes it look just a little worse…..
Sanchez has had a few rough outings in a row, 2 that is. Not sure if he lost the closer job but its more likely he was just getting a rest. He pitched 2 innings in his last game.
Samuel went to the DL. Sanchez is the closer for the forseeable future.
stidham had a 4 hit night not bad man. Good to see walters recover from 2 bad starts, and i believe stock got his first hit in class A today also
So does Wellemeyer just remain on the DL indefinitely? Also, if he gets another rehab start at Memphis, he might screw up the Redbirds’ chance at a title. I guess they could just stash him in the St. Louis bullpen and not bring him into a game until October, then leave him off the playoff roster. Can’t imagine Walters, Boggs or Sanchez wouldn’t contribute more. Even Ottavino would be more useful at this point.
Ronald Zachary Russell. He once tied an Arkansas prep record for Ks in one game.
Conley could not hit a lick at Quad Cities and looked like a mistake. Gets demoted to Batavia and now he is untracked and excelling. He should be fine next year at QC/PB.
Thanks for the name clarification, love the username!
DFR updated with the QC extra innings win.
RWR – do you have any more info on Russell. when he was drafted I googled him to death and could find nothing. Not many relatively no-name HS players get taken in the 49th round and then sign. did we pay way above norm to buy him out of a scholarship? Any info would be appreciated.
Allen Craig also gunned down a runner at the plate last night–has anyone seen his throwing arm from LF first-hand?
For whatever it’s worth, minorleaguesplits.com has Craig as an above-average glove in LF both this year and 2008. Moreover, Clay Davenport’s current MLB translation is about an .875 OPS or so.
What is Mulligan like? Is he purely a Jason Motte-type pitcher with a big FB or does he have a bit more finesse. His SO numbers are unreal
So Savinfection is on the DL too…

Carioca, I have no knowledge of Russell’s bonus. The only allusion I found was to tying the state K record in a game. Babrick told a paper he signed for $40K out of high school. Maybe it was in this area. Some guys prefer to turn pro out of high school. I also have never heard a bonus on Jaime Garcia or Nick Additon.
