Any chance of Salas being called up? He has been very good since returning from injury and hasnt allowed a run in his last 10 appearances.

I don’t think you’ll see any movement till after the playoffs for Memphis & Springfield. And even then, I think you’ll have very few callups. Maybe 4 or 5. Maybe.

Additon=Brad Thompson 2.0 (speaking of which, does any other team carry a reliever who pitches less than once a week?)

  3. StewartMiller says:

    No

  4. Grant says:

I don’t think Brad Thompson is a good comp for Additon. Additon is an extreme flyball pitcher. His GO-FO ratio today was 4-15.

I thought additon would be exposed in AA with such a high fly ball. He continues to pitch well after a bad first outing. Are there any brad thompson comps in our high minors system that will be ready to eat up worthless innings for cheaper?

Pete Parise is probably the closest thing to a Brad Thompson clone in the high minors. He was signed as an undrafted free agent but has worked his way up to AAA rapidly. I’m not very high on him but he could be a serviceable low leverage arm. There’s certainly no reason to pay Brad Thompson more than $1M to do what he’s doing.

Just as an FYI, today’s Springfield game has many pithing stats not to be taken seriously (the Arkansas starter threw 72 pitches in 7 innings, 54 for strikes, as an example, and Additon threw 88 pitches to get through 8). Both teams just wanted to get out of there and were swinging at anything remotely near the strike zone.

1 hour, 57 minute end-of-the-regular-season special. It started at 12:10 and was done just after 2 p.m.

In the Springfield game I saw one a great double play. Go the KY3.com and see the video. Henley dives for the ball in deep left center, goes off his glove-Rapoport backing up gets the ball to Sedbrook who throws to home and gets both runners. Just like out of the movie Major League except the runners are out. Hill did a great job blocking the plate.

I was able to attend the games this Labor Day weekend in Springfield and it was good to see Blake King relaxing and throwing the way I have seen him throw in Palm Beach. The jump from “High A” to “AA” is HUGE, and I am sure that every player takes a little time to adjust. I felt like the coach should have let Blake throw one more inning to help him get a little more comfortable with the AA environment. I was a little surprised to see the lack of effort(diving) for ground balls that were hit through the infield….there might not have been a play at first, but runs could have been kept from scoring. anyone else notice that?

Actually, the guy who reminded me of Brad Thomspon was Jess Todd. Good sink, not alot of velocity, minor league success…

I know people are going to throw a fit becasue of Todd’s success and the fact that Thompson has been 5th starter/long releiver quality. However, you can’t discount the pitcher Thompson was when he was in the minors:

    Remember this?

And in 2006, he had a 2.11 ERA in memphis.

For the playoffs-Solano to Memphis-Jose Garcia to Springfield.

  11. Grant says:

Could Trey Hearne fill the Thompson role (long relief/spot starter) in the near future? Doesn’t have the best stuff, but gets good results. I’d like to see him get the chance.

  12. bookerd says:

Good to see Garcia get teh call to Sprinfield, I was impressed with his play when he was in QC.

Mulligan ended up with 97 K’s on the season, in his 3 levels. A very impressive season for him.
