DJ Comes Alive!
DJTools also stole second base twice , giving him three stolen bases for the season.
According to pitch f/x, Riefer was 93-96 and only threw 3 off speed pitches. Gorgen was 89-91 and showed a changeup with pretty good fade (lateral movement) and sink.
I was very impressed with the changeup when I saw it in Springfield. Nice to hear that it jives with the pitchf/x data.
yeah, I’ll have a quick post on it monday. Very funky fade on Gorgen’s change. 10 MPH difference between his fastball. I like his future more than I have before, even if I think his upside is that of a reliever.
Yeah, he got two swinging strikes on it… It definitely has a different movement pattern than his fastball (which seems pretty straight with no sink), so I’d think as long as he can maintain arm speed etc, then it should be able to dive under a lot of bats.
Also of note, both guys faced multiple lefties, so that would explain Riefer going predominately fastball, and Gorgen showcasing the changeup as much as he did (5 or 6 times out of 15 pitches)
Got to love Jones showcasing the speed again with 3 SBs in 3 games. I was afraid he might have lost one of is most vital tools with his knee problems this past season.
I’d love to see Descalso have a good fall to make up for that ugly stint in Memphis.
Looks like DJ Tools is back in action swipping 2 bags giving him 3 in 3 games…
