Marc Hulet has a post up at Fangraphs that’s worth a read. You should be reading all the posts there but just in case, here’s the link.
And yes, I’m aware that posting has been minimal lately, my personal and professional life are intervening in unpleasant ways. Hopefully things will pick up soon.
Update: The STL Cardinals twitter account has a tweet with the prospects being added to the 40-man roster.

Interesting that Trey Hearne was left off. Would think someone will take him in the Rule V draft … but then they’ll get a radar gun on his fastball and we’ll get him back.
mentions some of the players left unprotected … http://stlcardinals.scout.com/2/921088.html
Looks like Mike Parisi has been left of the 40 man… not sure thats a good move…
Meh. Hearne seems like less than meets the eye. Even if taken, he just seems unlikely to be more than, say, brad thompson.

I’ve never been a fan of Parisi, but his last AFL start was decent and it sounds like what Azru had mentioned after reviewing the Pitch F/x is correct, about him now throwing a cutter…

I think that puts us around 33 on the 40 man and I don’t think it has to be completely set until Friday (might be wrong), so Parisi could still be added. We’d still have plenty of room to sign free agents and even take a shot on a rule 5.
I observe that one Amaury Cazana was left unprotected. Wouldn’t he be a possible Rule 5 pick? Nah, make that Rule 500,000; this is AMAURY we’re talking about, after all.
Any juicy tidbits in other systems left unprotected?
Does Descalso have another year before he is Rule 5 eligible?
