I have to say that if you look at Parisi’s whiff its not bad since he is pitching to GB contact. Remember the transformation of Hawksworth last year at the majors? If you noticed he was pitching to contact and keeping his pitches at the bottom of the strike zone and looked great out there. If Parisi follows the same like he may turn out just like Hawk did. He would also have to be added to the 40 man. I hope we don’t lose him in the rule 5 either.

I’ll go ahead an propose again that the Cards employ a 5th starter platoon with Parisi as one-half and Jaime Garcia as the other half. It would keep both their innings counts down and if you set the schedule so that they traded starts then the non-starting pitcher could work out of the bullpen for an appearance or two in between starts.

Does anyone think this makes sense?

I’ve got a technical question that has, I imagine, a very simple answer.

In BABIP, my understanding is balls in play does not include homeruns. Are home runs included in balls in play when calculating Slgcon? It seems to me that they should be, but given the classic definition of balls in play, they wouldn’t be.

Thanks. Yeah, personally Gorgen is a lot more interesting, albeit a little gimmicky (you’ll see what I mean in a couple days).
