You missed Tommy Pham yesterday because it was raining and he didn’t want to get his new hat all wet. But, tonight he threw rocks at your window until you woke up, just to say hi.

As always during spring training, the stats for the DFR tonight is courtesy of John Vuch.

All the games were rained out on 3/29/10, so what else can you do, but dance!

Tommy Pham asked if you wanted to see the new movie coming out this weekend with his group of friends. You unabashedly accepted.

Tommy Pham likes to listen to the song Walk it Out by Unk. You like that song too. You should tell Tommy that you both like that song.

In the first part of our draft series this season I take a look at who I think are currently the top 30 prospects for this year’s draft.  Everyone has likely heard of Bryce Harper who is supposed to be the next phenom, but there are also several other very intriguing names in this year’s class.  Some are calling it a weak draft due to the lack of impact collegiate position players, but there are some good college pitchers and it is a very strong year for high school arms.  There are also some intriguing high school position players who seem to have a few great tools, but question marks surrounding the rest of their games.  Look inside for the rankings, a brief scouting report on each player, and some links to videos.

As the Cardinals complete their second round of minor league releases, it’s apparent that a) they’re releasing a significant number of pitchers who haven’t shown signs of development after years in the lower levels and b) they still have too many players on the rosters. There’s more releases yet to come as the major league roster gets pared down and displaces more minor leaguers as well.

In today’s DFR you will see the names Yoffri Martinez, Brad Furnish, Randy Santos and Travis Mitchell for the last time. Per D. Goold, they have been released by the team.

On a happy note….Albert Pujols eating a bat!
Yummy!

Derrick Goold again.

Less surprising than the last round. Brad Furnish, a former second round pick, was a left hander who was touted early but not someone whom I’ve ever bought into. His command started to deteriorate and he just never progressed as a pitcher.

Knuckleballer Charlie Zink gets released to free up AAA innings for other pitchers. Zink was more of a circus act than a serious sixth starter for the big league club.

With the season just around the corner, the affiliation assignments are starting to shake down and we are seeing players in the lineups they will at the very least start the season in.

To go slightly off-topic, for any of you that watched the Phillies/Braves game yesterday on ESPN: What was your opinion of the new ‘camera angle’ ESPN plans on using this year. It is elevated in hopes of capturing ‘all the action’ of the runner and any ball hit from the SS towards RF. Personally, I thought it was garbage and that you felt not only further away from the action but that you couldn’t keep track of what was actually going on.

Today the big club plays on ESPN at 1 pm ET. The lineup doesn’t have any minor leaguers in it to start.

We’ve got a spring training special today with Memphis playing Springfield and QC#2 the only other team in action. QC#2 played some semi-pro team named Gildea’s Raiders…and got beat!
Memphis was stomped by Springfield as Tommy Pham slipped a note into your locker.

You know how it goes…after the jump.
