Cardinals Release 7 Minor League Players
Posted by azruavatar in Andres Rosales, Justin FiskeDerrick Goold has the full list.
There’s a couple real surprises on that list for me. Andres Rosales was just 22 and had posted some nice strikeout rates but was undone by poor command in recent seasons. Justin Fiske was damaged goods in an organization with too many upper minors pitchers right now.
The rest of the players simply weren’t performing up to par to keep their roster spots. This is likely the first of several waves of releases from minor league camp.

I’m broken up a bit about Rosales, he was a good pet prospect, but as long as Archimedes Nieto is still around, I’m good.
I’m actually really disappointed about Murphy. Yes, he was older and I guess they got a better look at him than me, but catching depth never hurt anyone. Really thought he had some upside with the bat, too.
Not a good day to be a right handed pitcher named Gonzalez.
I was suprised by the Andres Rosales cut. The truth though is that if you are not showing command of the fastball by 22 you probably are not going to cut it.
In fact this has becom my number 1 scouting requirement – live arm with command of fastball.
anyone notice that Brandon Yarbrough is now with the reds organization?
Rosales suffered an arm injury. The attrition rate from Latin America to the majors is high. Its a long climb.
