i agree with those that say why not harvey at 25 if he is there and the higher rated pitchers are gone. he has been inconsistent throughout his career, but he throws 97 with a nice hard breaker and at worst you have a better version of daniel bard coming out of the pen.

as for the question that asked which ones i think will be available. i think there is a decent chance that the ones starting with Gausman and working down on my list will be there.

I dream for Kevin Gausman and anticipate Wimmers. If there’s a run on pitchers, why not take Paxton, or if he’s available, Harvey.

One mock I saw(which i realize mocks at this point are completely unreliable as to who a team will take, but can show the overall rankings of prospects) has us taking Stetson Allie…I don’t like taking anyone who projects as a reliever in the first round, if we take him I would hope it would be to at least start him to begin with

Unfortunately I think Wimmers will be there to tempt the Cardinals. I think it is realistic to think that anyone from Wimmers down could be available.

My personal fav is Gausman.

When you see a line (Wimmers’) that says “Another college starter that isn’t long on stuff, but…,” walk, don’t run, in the opposite direction. I hope we’ve learned that lesson by now.

Realistically, one should not hope for a Shelby Miller out of this draft. The slot is simply too low, and without a Strasburg to drive the top-choice bidding up, I doubt if too many potential high choices will fall to the 25th slot through overpricing. This looks like more of an opportunity to get quantity of decent prospects rather than the one high-quality one.

The Cards are picking 25th, low. Unless a super athlete like Wilson is still around, we need to stock up on starting pitchers. Matt Harvey and James Paxton are collegiates with strong arms.
