Kary Booher has a piece on reliever Matt Frevert. Money Quote:

And Frevert may have the one pitch — a developing change-up — that advances him to Double-A, where a solid season would begin to open the eyes of St. Louis’ front office.  He already enjoys pro ball because, with hitters now using wood bats, he can attack with his fastball. He also has a go-to slider and believes he can throw it in any count.

Booher also has an article on top relief prospect Eduardo Sanchez.

I came across this old interview with Colby Rasmus from 2006. Can’t help but laugh at some of the responses:

Adam Foster: Roy Hobbs.

Colby Rasmus: Roy Hobbs…I’ve never even heard of Roy Hobbs.

AF: The Natural! You know…the movie.

CR: Oh! (laughs). Ummmm…nah.

Tommy LaSorda lectures former FR heartache Kyle Russell.

WooHoo! Anderson is being called up to replace LaRue. Its about time we get to see what this kid is all about. I hope he makes the most of his opportunity.

  2. Shane says:

Oops! I meant to post that in the Bryan Anderson thread.

  3. Andrew says:

Why would Sanchez not be considered the closer of the future? At least acknowledge that he and Samuel are now on a level playing field. I really like Samuels stuff but I think Sanchez is the future in STL as far as closers go.

I love this paragraph from the Lasorda article:

“Lasorda went on to give three more players the same lecture. One of them was unable to hit a line drive or even a weak fly ball following Lasorda’s advice. The player then walked out of the cage…dejected.”
