Catching up on Friday’s games.
- Jon Jay is off to a great start this year. He was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks.
- Matt Pagnozzi was 2-for-4.
- A bit of a rough outing for Adam Ottavino who was coming off a dominant 8K performance to start the year. He went 5 innings allowing 7 hits and 2 walks for 5 runs. He struck out 6.
- Matt Scherer struck out 4 in 2 innings while allowing 1 run.
- Adron Chambers had a hit in his only at bat and walked 2.
- Andrew Brown was 3-for-4.
- A very good outing from Gary Daley. He went 6 innings striking out 6 and allowing just 1 ER. That’s two 1 run consecutive starts for Daley.
- Adam Reifer allowed 1 hit and struck out 3 in 1.1 innings.
- Eduardo Sanchez matched Reifer’s nil ERA with a scoreless frame allowing a hit, walk and one strikeout.
Palm Beach 4, Fort Meyers 2 (10 innings)
- Jose Garcia have yourself a night. Garcia was 5-for-5 with a HR. The Venezuelan shortstop has an OPS north of 1.000 in the early goings of the season.
- Tony Cruz was 2-for-5.
- Xavier Scruggs was 2-for-5 with a HR.
- O Tommy. We came to you with open arms. Pham was 0-for-4 and is batting .167/.286/.167 on the season. He’s striking out in just under 30% of his PAs.
- Richard Castillo allowed 1 run in 7 innings. He was tagged for 5 hits and 1 walk while striking out 3.
- Matt Frevert tossed a scoreless inning walking 1.
Quad Cities 10, Clinton 11 (11 innings)
- Luis Mateo was 2-for-5 with a HR and a walk.
- Niko Vasquez, batting fourth, was 3-for-5 with a double.
- Devin Sheperd was 1-for-3 with 3 walks.
- Frederick Parejo was 2-for-6 with a HR.
- Shelby Miller was a strikeout machine again. He pitched 3 innings striking out 7. He was also surprisingly hittable allowing 6 (including a HR) and walking 1 for 3 ER.
- Jesse Simpson tossed 3 innings allowing just 1 hit, unfortunately a HR, while striking out 5.
