Tyler Greene up. He’s had some defensive miscues but he’s hitting at a reasonable clip and he’s a very good fielder when you evaluate his total body of work.

Jon Jay up. He’s your fourth outfielder who is likely to spell Ludwick and Holliday on their offdays. Mather in center on Colby’s offdays make the most sense to me since those offdays should be against lefties when needed.

Allen Craig optioned. Not unexpected and makes some sense to let Craig get regular playing time and get things going.

Felipe Lopez to the DL. I hope this isn’t worse than it turns out to be. Makes you wonder if this wasn’t some of the delay with his offseason contract.

Please refresh my memory…….optioned just means he was sent back down?

Correct. Players generally have three option years during which they can go back and forth between the minors and the majors an unlimited number of times. Being on the 40-man roster burns an option year (players are optioned at the beginning of spring training). There are special caveats to the rule but that’s the basic premise.

I think this is a good move clearly he wasn’t hitting major league pitching and not getting many ab’s didn’t help.

    Congrats to Jon Jay!

FWIW I don’t think Lopez’s injury will be any worse than it turns out. :)
I can’t argue with any of the moves…Craig needs regular AB’s, Jay was tearing the cover off in Memphis. Does Greene have a shot at bumping the struggling Boog…will he start at 2nd vs. tough lefties?
