As azruavatar reported below, Adam Ottavino will be called up to make a start for the big club, so head to that post for discussion on that move.
QC scored 10 in the 7th after a delayed start to the game, which makes me have to update that game in the morning, but here’s the rest of your Memphis and QC DFR. Palm Beach was rained out and Springfield was off.
Updated with QC Final.
- Brandon Dickson continued his death by groundouts attack with 12 groundouts to 3 outs in the air. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits in 7 innings striking out 4 to 2 walks. His 1 earned run was on a HR.
- Josh Kinney got the hold with 1 K in his 1 inning.
- Fernando Salas got the save with 1 K and 1 hit in the 9th.
- Tyler Greene led the team with a 3-5 afternoon with a triple and 2 RBIs.
- Allen Craig has a 2 RBI single and James Rapoport had 2 walks.
Springfield was off.
Palm Beach was postponed.
- Joe Kelly gave up 4 runs in 4 innings in this wild game. He struck out 3 and walked 0, but gave up 6 hits.
- Daniel Calhoun gave up 3 runs in 4 innings. At the pace, the River Bandits will give up 9 runs on the game.
- Jason Novak got one strikeout in the 9th to finish off the game.
- Matt Adams had a double and a HR.
- Luis Mateo had 2 hits, one of which was a triple.
- D’Marcus Ingram had 2 hits and an RBI.
- Ryde Rodriquez was 2-3 with a triple and 3 RBIs.
- CJ Beatty had a double, walk and scored 3 runs.

What does Greene need to learn at Memphis that will make him a better player in STL? He’s got the tools I guess his biggest issue is his strike outs?
On a side note it looks like Joe Kelly is tiring out as hes been giving up alot of runs in the last few starts. Perfectly understandable for someone who pitched so infrequently in college.
Looks like Allen Craig is finally starting to heat up again. At least this year he’s doing it a month and a half before the ASB.
@Andrew: and who would you replace on the ML roster? I think Greene’s problem now isn’t that he is a bad player it is that he is redudant on this team. Even more so with Miles hanging around.
Maybe Dickson’s best game of the season despite the homer (much like Wainwright).
I wasn’t saying that Greene was ready just that whatever issues he has I want him to take care of in Memphis so he fully succeeds in STL next time he has a chance. As much as I hate to say it if Greene improves his fielding and cuts down on the K’s he needs to be our everyday starting shortstop with Ryan sent down and probably claimed on waivers. I like Ryan alot as a player but he needs to make a fundamental change to how he goes about hitting.
Tyler Greene, like most young players, is better when they can play every day and not have to worry about being benched if they go 0-4 with an error.
@shaneo69:
To be fair, Greene played virtually every day last year between May and June (Apr 30 – Jul 4) before he got hurt and didn’t really do a ton to convince anyone he could be a starter at the MLB level.
Now I’m not saying he’s a bust or AAAA guy or anything like that, but was just pointing out that he had a very long streak of regular playing time last year, did pretty much nothing with the bat, but still played for over 2 months straight.
Was really surprised that MacClane did get the call since he is 27 going on 28 just to see what he has at the ML level.
