Cardinals signed former player Jeff Suppan (who was released by Brewers) to help the big league club.

I like Dickson too, he’s not a flashy guy but he gets the job done.

Swinson is starting to hit. He may be rated higher than Darryl Jones by the time the season is over as our future toolsy OF.

I was never big on the Vasquez band wagon even his first year. Last year that looked smart. This year he is actually starting to make a believer out of even me.

Dickson needs to be looked at as a guy who could add a little velocity and be pretty effective as a RH reliever.

@BigRob: Yea, looks pretty awesome. Hard to put much stock in the DSL results, but guys who K a lot there while keeping the walks and especially this hits down have had lots of success before. I'd really love to hear more about this guy but it doesn't look like anyone online is really talking about him. I'd guess the DSL scouts will start saying something, though, if he keeps having outings like that...

@kelley: Why would you want to release Dickson. He pitched well at AA last year, he is leading Memphis in innings pitched during a rookie year at AAA. He's doing a good job and might get added to the 40 man this fall.

@kelly–the prospects in the Cardinals system aren’t rated high enough for a veteran trade (it took three prospects, including a A-level one in Wallace, to get a rental of Matt Holliday, and two of the Cardinals’ best closer prospects to get Mark DeRosa). Last year’s trades and promotions decimated the system’s depth, so probably what will happen is that some fringe guys will be cut.

Schneider’s odd line came from a Jeckyl and Hyde performance. In the first, he gave up a 3-run homer after walking the lead-off hitter and then giving up a single. After giving up two singles in the 6th, he was lifted for Chris Notti, who promptly gave up a double that scored the two inherited runners. In between, Schneider was his usual-this-season self, giving up only one other hit.

Good to see Henley get off to a good start after returning from the DL.

Last 10 games, Stock has hit safely in all but 2. Not great, but an improvement. He’s also walked 4 times and stuckout 3 during that span (two of those SO came during his worst performance–June 8, when he went 0-4).

I think that the cardinals will start looking for some teams that will trade some veterans for some picks from the farm teams. The cardinals need some immediate pitching help in the majors, and they have several players that can’t be protected from the rule 5 exposure at the end of this year. Does anyone else think this?

Every time that I think that its time to let Dickson go, he has several weeks of solid pitching. He doesn’t do anything great, but he gets the job done….Does he have any shot at the bigs? I think Samuel must still be hurt, or he has been highly overrated. What is going on with Kozma? He seems to play a solid ss, but seems to make errors on the routine plays, and last night it costs several runs. Are these still growing pains for the position?
