Is Audry Perez going to be a consensus top 15 prospect going into next year? Or am I putting too much faith in KLaw and his solid season?
Luhnow said in a recent interview that Perez had the skills to stay at catcher but I’m still skeptical. I’m also curious whether he has changed his swing as in the past he was a low avg- high power hitter and this year he appears to be high average — low power.
Stavinoha out due to shoulder strain, Craig up, Chambers up to AAA, Swauger up to AA.
Ottavino to have shoulder surgery.
JC really has some hitting on that team.
The Matias watch needs to be updated! What about a Bryan Martinez watch?! Can someone fill me in on who this guy is and how he projects as a prospect?
The history on Ott’s injury seems weird. Are we to understand that this is something that he’d been feeling for a while? Then WHY WASN’T HE SHUT DOWN BEFORE IT REQUIRED SURGERY? I’ve never thought of the Cardinals as a “use ‘em up and throw ‘em away” kind of organization, and I don’t really see any other evidence of the mindset, but why was this allowed to happen? Or am I missing something?
My understanding is that this is a recent development. Because he never lost velocity may have been why it not a consideration, besides there is protocal to follow regarding injuries as well and the last thing you want to so is open up a pitchers shoulder unless you have to. This time of year many pitchers feel like their arm may fall off, it’s sometimes hard to tell what is just normal everyday stuff or serious stuff.
You also have to understand that we don’t know all that went down before and all players are not willing to give up what ails them until they can’t get it done or the pain becomes unbearable. This a business where you work your hardest for your place and you don’t want to give it up to easily. Most players will not let on until they have to, I am not saying this is the case, but this happens often.
I don’t think that you can blame the organization or the player either way.
An article said that he had been feeling it since April but only notified the team before he was about to be sent back down to Memphis recently. He probably had been used to throwing with a sore arm and thought it was just normal soreness
