In Edmondson’s defense, not all teams even have short season A teams and many start nearly all their draftees in rookie ball (JC equivalent). I’d also suggest that JC is a huge step up from Le Moyne college. Next year will be more telling.

Chris Edmondson is also 22 years old, which is rather long in the tooth to be playing in JC. He can’t help it, of course, never having played pro ball before this year (doesn’t appear to have been drafted previously), but he really _should_ be beating up on the kiddies. If he still hits after being moved up a couple of levels, he could be interesting; at least a 22YO who hits a ton in the rookie league is more interesting than a 22YO who doesn’t hit a ton in the rookie league.

He last pitched on the 15th so I’m assuming he’ll be starting tomorrow night. He’s listed as the starter on QC’s website.

DK this is a great question on Jackson. I for one watched some Miami games as well as a decent amount of video on Jackson in college and leading up to the draft. I must say I have never been that impressed with a SS defense leading up to any draft before. So I am wondering the same thing and would be curious to see if anyone out there has seen him live this year multiple times that can give some insight.

First off, hurray for Matt Carpenter!

Second, does anyone have any idea if Jackson’s errors have been mostly fielding related or throwing related? If he is truly as advanced at SS as some claim, his errors could be due to the 1B unable to scoop some off-balanced throws. His increased range may leave him with some difficult throws that the 1B can’t scoop, leading to throwing errors given to Jackson… just a theory.
