    I am outraged!!!!

I never like to engage in schadenfreude in these cases. This is Garey Daley’s job, and celebrating his equivalent of being fired, would be like celebrating the same if it happened to one of us proles.

But he has been so many shades of awful from the day of his signing, that his continued existence within the Cardinals minor league system became superfluous to the nth degree.

Good luck in lifes travels post baseball Mr. Daley.

Would you like to borrow my siren for this update?

  4. pitch and hit says:

As mentioned today somewhere else, Daley was suffering from the same ailment that affected Steve Blass and Rick Ankiel.

I think that the Cardinals did everything they could to work him through this, but obviously it just wasn’t working anymore. I saw him pitch a few times over the years and recently this spring, when he was doing quite well.

I wish Gary Daley the best of luck.

  5. Andrew says:

They had mentioned moving him to the bullpen guess that never happend though which is dissapointing.

pretty sure it happened last year, but only for one outing this year. i was in favor of moving him to the bullpen to just try to get 3 outs even though i was on the release daley bandwagon.

An era has passed. No one could fill a pitching line with crooked numbers quite like Mr. Daley.

A legend in his time. That 2008 season will never be forgotten.

  8. Gruntosaurus says:

I wish Mr. Daley the best in whatever he does from here — sincerely — but I must admit that I do it with something of a sigh of relief. The same applies to the other people who’ll be getting their walking papers from the franchise this week.

I don’t want to sound too harsh here. For each player who gets released, there are a thousand of us out here who would have given their left testicle to play pro ball, even for just an instant in the rookie leagues, and we live vicariously in their successes and inevitable failures. I’d rather see every last one of ‘em succeed. But since they can’t, for those who don’t have what it takes to reach the very top, there always comes the moment when it’s time to move on and let the INCREDIBLY lucky (and talented) few win St. Louis a pennant.

Grunt, do you have some inside info on some more upcoming releases?

      • Gruntosaurus says:

None whatever. However, it’s that time of year, with new signees showing up and there not being enough space in the rookie leagues for them. There WILL be releases to accommodate roster size. I have no idea who they are.

Well that is another one, I know Devin Shepherd and Oliver Marmol got released also the past 1-2 days.

Ryde Rodriquez and Ryan Jackson got promoted to Palm Beach and I think someone said Hooker also got promoted to Palm Beach.
