And I agree with Strauss, the fact that Wilson and his mom even came up to visit St. Louis has made me more optimistic that a deal could be reached. Not that I expect him to sign, but it doesn’t hurt that the Cardinals don’t think that there is no chance of a deal being reached.

Again, I’d like to have him in our farm system, but in no way is he a deal breaker like Shelby Miller was last year.

Joe Strauss: Still less than 50-50. But the fact I’m even discussing it is reason for optimism within the Cardinals front office. Initially they thought it likely a token pick. Wilson really enjoyed his visit to St. Louis. Apparently his family did as well. Intriguing.

This must mean that they are confident that he may end up signing.
