The problem with Jones' "down year" is that every year (except one) in his professional career could so far be categorised as such. He's no longer particularly young for his level, and is in AA for the third season, and doesn't really look like getting promoted any time soon. Add in the whispers about his attitude and I'm really not sure he has what it takes. He's not in my top 20 anymore, I dunno about you.

He also has the misfortune to be a good fielding, lefty hitting, corner-OF-who-could-probably-handle-centre, speedy guy whose best tools are likely to be getting on base and catching flyballs, and who could probably be a 4th OF type or the left-hand side of a platoon. Just like, ermmm, Jon Jay, Tyler Henley and Adron Chambers, all of whom have leapfrogged him IMO. When we also have a LH CF in the majors, it's hard to see how he gets much playing time in AAA or MLB without a massive uptick in performance.

Seen Chambers go through 3 levels and he hasn't stopped since I first saw him. He has the tools, maybe not all 5 but he has them and very impressive indeed.

The bullpen didn't hold up last night (except for Buursma). I notice that some give it up when the game is tight. Big part of the bullpens job is to stop the bleeding , it's always so much easier coming in for one new inning for the night when your team is ahead, but so nuch different when you come in with men on base and have to pitch from the stretch and you need to get it done, quickly. If you can't come in on tight situations, you are not going to move forward.

The hitting isn't better at AAA, they are just smarter and more patient.

Interesting to hear Az's opinion of Jones, I think he's just having a down year, it happens, and it gets into your head, I think he has the tools just hasn't figured out this year how to use them. He's young and he might need to grow up.

It is also my opinion, that there is more talent in the field at AA than at AAA. The catching is better too, shame that Derba can't hit, he's probably the best, and someone is going to lose their job to Matt Carpenter.

Shame that some of these guys can't be moved up to see how they would do in AAA.

Luna played second in Tulsa last Friday night.

What does everyone think of X. Scruggs? He hit a mammoth shot mid-way up the batter's eye in centerfield in Tulsa last Friday.

I'm not saying Chambers has amazing tools and he should be a great prospect, but I agree with cariocacardinal here. I saw Springfield play earlier this year and Chambers was far and away, one of the more impressive guys on the team. He hit the ball hard a few times and showed great speed on the bases and in the outfield. He showed an absolute cannon of an arm as well, throwing a guy out at 2B from the LF wall. Like I said, I don't know if he is going to be a major leaguer, but too often it seems that people fall in love with tools and not the production. Chambers has plenty of tools and his play is starting to show that he can put them to use..

I hear you but Chambers has the tools too. May be a notch below Jennings but not far. He lacked the baseball skills though so no one paid attention to him (plus he wasn't a high draft pick). Now he's developing the baseball skills and because he wasn't hyped early no one will pay attention to him..

Andrew Brown is a Stavinoha-like outfielder, but with more speed.
The more he plays RF, the more I like what I see.
Still room to grow as an outfielder, but improvements are noticeable from '09-'10.

Bat: He shows power from left-center to right-center. Learning the strike zone.
Compare his offensive stats to Steven Hill's. Very similar.
Needs to stay healthy.
