I’ll be heading to Springfield this weekend to catch the AA team Friday thru Sunday. It looks like I’ll see David Kopp, Brian Broderick and Scott McGregor on the hill. Matt Carpetner is obviously of a great deal of interest right now.

If there’s something/someone you want me to watch out for, leave a comment and I’ll see what I can do.

The 2 guys that intrigue me the most are Pham and Riefer. If you could give a report on each that would be awesome. There are others as well if you get a chance…I’m curious how Cutler looks defensively behind the plate and a brief report on Scruggs and Luna if possible. But if you are only taking some suggestions I would be happy with a full report on Riefer and Pham!

Definitely agree on those two. Reifer, to say he’s been a borderline top-10 guy in some Cards ‘spect lists in the last two years when his control was all over the place, has got much better in that respect this year, and I’ve heard little about him.

Swauger has put up solid numbers at every level. I’ve heard his defense is good. Curious why he never gets any prospect mention.

anyone know when gorgen will either start rehab or be back in action?

  4. Andrew says:

If you can get into BP would love a report on X Scruggs power in BP., All he’s done since being drafted is hit. Just wondering if you see his bat making it at the next level.

A report on Matt Carpenter will be welcomed. Also, I’m interested in your eye witness assessment on two of our well-knowns: Kozma and Daryl Jones. I’d like to see your comparisons on those two from what you saw last year compared to this. (i.e. Is there any hope, or will they always be “our problem children”)????

A report on Arquimedes Nieto would be welcomed if he pitches this weekend.

  7. Grant says:

You should get a good look at the infield defense with those three guys pitching.

I agree with JC, I’d like to hear how Pham and Reifer look.

if you meet Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, let me know. They are from Springfield and they R….U…L…E…

I was at the game last night. Looks like the pitching the next three days are Kopp, Broderick and Nieto. McGregor has been moved to the bullpen.

I will be at all three games. Where are you setting? I would like to meet you if possible.

Not sure yet. I’ll be buying my tickets this afternoon. Normally I sit behind one of the dugouts.

I’ll try and remember to post my seat locations this afternoon (around 4 or 5).

      • azruavatar says:

        Friday: Section K Row 4 seat 21
        Saturday: Section K Row 4 Seat 18
        Sunday: Section K Row 4 Seat 5

I should be sitting behind the visitor’s dugout all three games. If you come over to that area, look for someone with a camera and a small black notebook. Or just yell, “Robot” and I’ll respond. “Tim” would work as well. I do walk around the park a bit to get better angles at times (and I’m meeting up with various people over the weekend) but I should return to that area eventually.

I was just thinking I remember reading a few days/weeks ago about someone at the Springfield game talking to a Yankees scout that was there to watch Chris Swauger. He’s really under the radar, can you keep a special look out fo rhim.

I would be interested in your thoughts on the catching situation, since Cruz and Hill are gone at the moment. Theie 2 current catchers I don;t believe are thought of very highly especially defensively.

    • cariocacardinal says:

Actually from people I’ve talked to Derba is the most highly thought of in the system (even higher than Pagnozzi). Too bad he can’t hit a lick. The other is Cutler who swings a decent stick but word is has no chance to stick behind the plate.

  12. Gruntosaurus says:

Just as an off-the-wall suggestion, are you going to be in any position to notice who is being scouted by whom? In addition to knowing what these players can do, it would be interesting to get insights into trades that might be about to happen. Not sure you can get a sense of that — scouts don’t usually wear signs around their neck saying “I’M A SCOUT FOR THE TAMPA BAY RAYS” and such — but if you do happen to have any such encounters …

  13. Grant says:

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say Pham looked good tonight.
