Moss is the Broderick of Batavia.
Springfield is definitely struggling offensively and defensively these last couple of games. They have faced some tough young pitchers( Lamb and Montgomery). But they are currently(for most of the year except april) 2nd (to NWA) in the league in almost every offensive category despite the loss of key players due to injury. I have confidence the S-Cards will come around.
Minor league season is just about over but I am a little disappointed that Mulligan was not called up again to Springfield to see if he could stick there before the season was up. Hopefully he will at least start there next season though. His stats are ridiculous.
Mulligan pitched in Springfield and was very disappointing. He pitched up in the zone, something he can get away with in Palm Beach. Not in Springfield. Pitch up and it will get hammered.
he pitched in the zone because he was injured.
He just left the ball up in the zone. Plain and simple. What exactly was his injury again?
Audry Perez, Cody Stanley, or Robert Stock as the catcher next year at QC?
Stock will be pitching by next season.
He might not be ready to give it up by then. He still is almost a year younger than both Stanley and Perez. However, as both of them figure to be starting in the A-level clubs and without significant improvement in his hitting his going to have a hard time finding playing time.
The backup catcher at QC is Castro. Castro’s OPS is lousy, but still higher than Stock.
The good news is Stock is a decent prospect as a pitcher. It was a good idea to give Stock a chance at catcher. Now Stock and the Cards know, he cannot hit.
You are missing the best prospect of all them and that is Jaun Castillo. He is younger, moved faster, and put up similar numbers to Perez. And most importantly, is superior defensively. This despite missing a year due to drug testing and then being demoted as punishment to the DSL (after performing well in the GCL). I expect him to be one of the primary catchers at QC next year along with Perez. Stanley is probably going to have to try to make the jump to PB.
I agree with the comment about Alex Castellanos. He’s been percolating for awhile now. It’ll be interesting to see how his skills display at the next higher level(s).
Someone decided to step up his game after baby bro got a big signing bonus.
being 24 in A ball demands some kind of break out performance… is he Nick’s brother?
Alex had a brother until he was run over by a boat. The topic of the brother is not funny.
I’m talking about Nick. thought they were brothers.
I don’t think anyone is making light of a tragic situation intentionally. They’re all referencing Nick Castellanos who signed this past draft. Not to mention that I’m not sure where you’d find information publicized like this. It was an innocuous comment.
thanks az … had no clue about his other brother. my reference was simply to Nick … hence the signing bonus comment. i really have no clue how it could be taken any other way.
Mulligan has had some arm issues, I think they kept him there to keep an eye on him and in reality there was no spot in springfield for another reliever.
Will Seth Blair pitch this year?
I’d look for him in the AFL.
Zack Cox went 1-3 with a pair of walks in the GCL
I know everyone is entitled to opinions but it’s bezarre when one writes good things of castellanos because he’s getting better and better each day. Whic I also agree with the other guys above. For someone to make comments that it’s because his brother got drafted. When the players only brother was killed in a boating accident. Is uncalled for. You need to cHeck you’re facts before you put notes like those. I checked Alex stats since he’s been drafted. he’s one to watch. He bats with power, excellent speed and strong arm strength. Toolsy player all around. Plus he just turn 24 this month.
There are a lot of good players that have great potential. Chambers, jackson, carpenter. Ingram, Scruggs. Pham too but has to control a little his anger management issues. He blows up quickly
geez … i’m sorry. I swear that I heard that Nick was his brother … the reason for the signing bonus comment. If Nick is in fact not his brother, i’m sorry for any misconceptions. I meant it as a sarcastic response to Alex hitting well, especially of late. If anyone took that the wrong way, I really have no clue how they could take his actual brother’s accident and my “signing bonus” comment as the same person.
No sweat Wade. I just look up info on players and wanted to give my opinion. I read up on interviews thanks to Dustin at cardinal birdhouse and the story was there. That’s how I find out.
