It is a really good thing that I love minor league baseball. The big club is hard to watch right now. It would follow that we had a good night in the minors just to even things out. 5-1 and BOOM goes the dynamite!!
Here we go with the DFR…
The Hitters:
- Dan Descalso went 1-for-4 w/ a 2B
- Ruben Gotay went 1-for-2 w/ 1 2B, 1BB, and 1 R
- Steven Hill hit a HR is his 2 AB he also had a BB and 2 RBI
- Joe Mather had a single and stolen base
The Pitchers:
- PJ Walters went 8.0 scoreless and struck out 5 while giving up 5 H
- Josh Kinney got his 13th save with a scoreless ninth (I would have to think he will be called up in September as he has done everything you could have asked of him.)
The Hitters:
- Pete Kozma went 1-for-4 w/ a 2B, 2 RBI, and 1 BB
- Andrew Brown hit 2 dingers and had another hit in 5 AB’s
- Aaron Luna was 2-for-4 w/ 2 R
- Charles Cutler and Antonio DeJesus were 3-for-4 but Antonio had a 2B and a 3B
- Jose Garcia went 1-for-4 but the one hit was a 3-R homer, he had 4 RBI and 2 R
The Pitchers:
- Nick Additon was not, how you say, good
- Jason Buursma went 2.0 scoreless but walked 2
- Thomas Eager closed it out with a scoreless inning that included a K
The Hitters:
- D’Marcus Ingram was 2-for-4 w/ a 2B, 1 RBI, 1 SB, and 1 BB
- My beloved Alex Castellanos went 3-for-5 w/ 1 R
- Nico, yes we are on a first name basis, had 1 H, 1 RBI, and 1 R in 3 AB
- C.J. Beatty and Domnit Bolivar also had 1 H apiece
The Pitchers:
- Kevin Thomas was meh giving up 6 H, 3 ER, and 3 BB over 5.0 innings, though he did K 5
- Jesse Simpson went 2.0 innings and Cory Rauschenberger went 1.0 but both put up all zeroes
Cedar Rapids 3 @ Quad Cities 6
The Hitters:
- Raniel Rosario went 2-for-4 w/ 1 2B, 1 RBI, and 1 R
- Matt Adams was 1-for-4 and also had 1 2B and 1 RBI
- I saw Frederick Parejo in Batavia two years ago and I was impressed with his athleticism, obviously he has not progressed as I would have hoped but tonight he had 1 H, 1 BB, and scored a run in his 4 PA’s
- Ted Obregon went 2-for-4 w/ 1 2B, 1 RBI, 2 R, and 2 SB
The Pitchers:
- Shelby Miller went 4.0 innings and gave up 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB and struck out 5, they are obviously handling him with kid gloves and if it helps keep his confidence high, I am ok with that
- Nick Greenwood got the win w/ 2.0 shutout innings though he did give up 3 H and 1 BB while K’ing 1
- Jose Rada went 2.o scoreless giving up only 1 H and 1 BB for his 5th save
The Hitters:
- Victor Sanchez had 3 singles in his 5 PA’s and scored 2 R plus 1 SB
- Audry Perez went 1-for-5 but his one hit was a homer, he had 4 RBI (it was not a GS) and 1 R
- Joey Bergman went 2-for-4 and scored 2 R
- Pat Biserta had 3 H in 5 AB and scored 1 R
- Geoffrey Klein was 4-for-5 w/ 1 2B, 2 RBI, and 1 R
The Pitchers:
- Justin Edwards was mediocre giving up 3 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, and K’ing 5 in 5.0 innings, he did get the win
- Chase Reid went 2.2 scoreless w/ 2 K
- Keith Butler had a perfect inning w/ 3 K
The Hitters:
- Greg Garcia was 1-for-4 w/ 1 SB
- Our favorite Taveras went 2-for-4 w/ 1 HR and the other stats associated with a HR
- Keininger Teran was 2-for-4 w/ a 2B and 1 R
- Travis Tartamella had 1 hit in 4 PA’s and that hit was a HR, he had 2 RBI
- Roberto Reyes went 3-for-4 w/ 2 2B and 2 RBI
The Pitchers:
- The pitching was outstanding
- Angel De Jesus went 7.0 strong giving up only 1 ER (2 R) on 4 H and 1 BB while striking out 9
- Aiden Lucas had a perfect inning w/ one K relieving Angel
- Hector Corpas collected his 17th save with a scoreless, 1 K inning
Happy birthday Michael Jackson….I will commemorate it by listening to Billie Jean 1o times.

Kinney is not on the 40 man roster and it is full at the moment so I doubt he will be called up. Although they should release McDougal and go with Kinney. He couldn’t do any worse.
I agree Kinney should be up there but probably won’t. It is not just the stats, several first hand reports have indicated his stuff has been electric. One of the mysteries of life.
I hear you on the 40-man concerns, but I think this has been talked to death over at VEB and I guess I just don’t agree that it is a problem. As you say MacDougal could be released which wouldn’t hurt the team and there are also extraneous names on the 40-man. I like Shane Robinson but if Kinney needs to come up and help the team, it will not hurt the organization to let him go.
I know nobody was too excited about getting Greenwood in the Ludwick trade, but he has pitched pretty good for the River Bandits since joining the org.
How has Andrew Moss or Justin edwards not moved up to QC this year?
Who would you take out of the QC rotation to put them there?
