Archive for August, 2010Since we didn’t get any photos yesterday, you guys get TWO today: Which do you prefer? Matt Holliday: “Can I has the hugz 2? I haz more $” or Scott Rolen’s O-Face I’ll be heading to Springfield this weekend to catch the AA team Friday thru Sunday. It looks like I’ll see David Kopp, Brian Broderick and Scott McGregor on the hill. Matt Carpetner is obviously of a great deal of interest right now. If there’s something/someone you want me to watch out for, leave a comment and I’ll see what I can do. The one in which a former high ceiling MLB pitcher seemed to be the only one in the park not guessing right on what he was throwing…

2010 MLB Draft: Which Player is the “Better Choice”?Posted by azruavatar in 2010 MLB DraftZach Cox and Austin Wilson are both good players. They also represent two extremes of player development. Zach Cox was the best college bat in the 2010 draft – polished, powerful, advanced approach at the plate. Austin Wilson is a young high school player built like a someone a decade his elder. He’s raw and athletic but exceedingly talented. It’s not necessarily an either or decision for the Cardinals when it comes to these two players but, if they are mutually exclusive, which player is the better sign? Read the rest of this entry » As Jon predicted in our comment section for last night’s DFR, Steve Hill has been called up to the big club as Jeff Suppan has been placed on the DL. Kyle Lohse’s start in Reno last night probably made Suppan’s DL trip possible. Would love to see Hill get an AB during his cup of coffee, but he is probably up as Yadi insurance. Discuss. This DFR brought to you while working on my Cueto kicks on the back of my couch… Law has the signing at $1.3M. According to Baseball America, that would be nearly twice MLB’s recommended slot. With the signing deadline now less than a week away, I guess this post is due. I’ve been largely quiet regarding Zach Cox and Austin Wilson thus far because a) I don’t have anything official to report and b) the rumors weren’t very thick until the last few days. It’s still difficult to get an exact feel for which direction the Cardinals will take, which should tell you a lot about the direction of this post. Kyle Lohse will be making his next rehab start somewhere on Tuesday with some minor league team that is working at home, but Springfield is off and Memphis is in Reno again tomorrow. The next highest level is Palm Beach which is home against Bradenton tomorrow. My best guess for where we will “see” Kyle Lohse tomorrow will be in Palm Beach. I guess you will have to tune in to the DFR tomorrow to find out! UPDATE: Lohse is travelling to Reno to pitch for Memphis. So much for that theory. The Memphis game gets a (late) tag you used to see in those old-timey things called newspapers and I’ll update it in the morning. is updated. UPDATE: Also, Tyrell Jenkins will report to Johnson City late this week or early next week as he will be signed at Busch Stadium on Friday. DFR, ho! FirstInning’s player linker is down (has been for a week now), which is why you won’t see the player’s automatically linked. |
