Only Batavia was in action as the minor league playoffs get underway.  Hit the jump for the DFR: Playoff! Edition! as I resist the temptation to insert a Jim Mora youtube video.

Batavia 9, Tri-City 10

  • Jon Gast got blowed up allowing 7 run in 5 innings. He did strike out 8 guys walking only 1.
  • Anthony Ferrara, Keith Butler and Justin Wright combined to pitch 3 shutout innings. They were each granted a hold for their work.
  • Chase Reid blew the save in the bottom of the 9th giving up 2 runs. He also allowed the winning run in the bottom of the 11th. Double whammy of a bad outing for Reid. He walked 3 and allowed 2 HRs, one of the walk-off variety.
  • Jonathan Rodriguez was 4-6 with a double but committed an error and was thrown out advancing to 3rd from 1st on a single in the top of the 11th. He made the 1st out at 3rd base, baseball no-no.
  • Nick Longmire was 3-4 with 2 walks.
  • Chris Edmondson was 2-5 with a double.

Wonder where Longmire will begin & end next year?

    • JC says:

I will guess he starts in QC and ends in PB. I have nothing to base that on…just a guess.

It’ll be intesting to see if/where Longmire gets included by BA in the NYP top prospects. The same with a lot of our other guys around the minors. Miller’s the only shoo in for top ten honors but we’ve had a lot of guys do well on teams that did very well that haven’t gotten a lot of attention yet.

Gast and Reid did not a pick a good time for their worst outings of the season.
