Lynn in the second half, with yesterdays start included:

12 Starts
8-3
3.37 ERA
1.17 WHIP
4.15 k/bb
10.36 k/9

All while having a freakishly high HR rate hurting those stats....He may never be an "ace", but its sad that starting Lohse over him every fifth day in 2011 will still be a consideration.

I am going to assume you know the differences between levels. AA is not low class A. Shelby needs to work at each level (even if for awhile) he is young, no need to rush him, you mean now? He might get away with them not ever seeing him and that makes the job somewhat easy. I don't see them doing that at all but stranger things have happened.

With Lynn, they don't have to bring him up all at once, a few relief innings to get used to that level, then a try as a starter before he has to come up if someone gets hurt. He got into a groove last night and when pitchers lock in, they are in. He will be older next year and a bit more mentally confidant (something some say was lacking this year). Too much time in AAA, too much time for injury to occur before you get that opportunity. I have seen many players this year on other teams, go to a game or two from AAA to the ML field, use them while they are healthy and let them learn on the big field.

BTW, Lynn has improved his trade value, something all players work for, when they take the field they are playing for 29 other teams as well.

Where Lynn starts 2011 really isn't important. Pushing him too fast hurt his progression in the past. All that is important is that he gets MLB experience in 2011. If he starts the year in Memphis and continues to excel, we all know the Cards will have a need for a starter during the season (probably before the all star break). Lance will get his shot in 2011 so long as he continues to impress at Memphis.

Lynn's body of work is almost meaningless compared to what he did over the last several starts because it shows how much he improved. The pitcher is is now is what is important. Who cares what he did early as long as he can keep it up or even improve.

If Lynn piches the 1st half next year like the 2nd half this year there will be no need to keep him down any longer. I was pretty down on Lynn (said he should be demoted) but he has certainly come on strong since about that time.

sounds like Lynn was awesome, but let's look at his record for the year. the last month or so he has been better, and this game was great, but the body of work for the year is pretty average. one great game does not make a consistent major league starter. he needs at least another year of AAA, IMO. if he stays healthy, stays (gets?) in shape, and gets more command consistently, he could be ready late next year or in '12, but pushing him to the bigs next year would be a chance for a huge setback for him. this game certainly does show what he CAN do at best, but no one really expects him to be someone who averages 2+ so's per inning. does anyone know how he was doing it? the reports show him with a low 90 FB. did he add something late in the year for speed, or movement, or did he get great command of an off speed pitch?

NWA definetly the more aggressive team last night.
Kopp didn't pitch all that bad, made an error which scored an unearned run. The other two runs were home run singles. Throwing gas at 96,97, with elbow tendinitous. That's why he has been pulled early in games. Needed run support but springfield struggles against LHP throwing off speed stuff. Both pitchers were victims of an umpire not really knowing at times where he would like the strike zone and both pitchers showing frustration on mound at times. The first base umpire blew a call for springfield, runner definetly safe, the blue had to think about it for a few seconds before he called him out.
The crowd taunted DJ, not sure if this is due to an attitide he often has. Kozma has come a long way, aggressive, more selective, more confidant.
Not sure why they threw to Hosmer with men on base with two outs, should have been an intentional walk, as the next guy was an easy out. That scored two more runs.

Kozma and Lynn have been victims of being too young where they belong not in talent but in mental maturity. Both have stated good cases for themselves as being top prospects. BTW, Lynn was facing a line up of former ML hitters.

If they let Lynn sit another year in AAA it would be a shame, he'll burn out.
