ANY CHARACTER HERE
The Hitters:
  • Adron Chambers is giving us a reason to follow the fall league.  He went 2-for-5 w/ 1 HR, 1 RBI, and 1 R.  This game brings his line to .375/.421/.500.

The Pitchers:

  • Blake King went 1.1 scoreless innings while striking out 1 and giving up 1 hit.

P.S.  My man crush Eric Hosmer, an elite prospect, is putting up a line of .220/.256/.293 in 41 AB’s.  They aren’t the same player, but this can put a little perspective on the fall league our own Zack Cox is having.

Surprise 5, Scottsdale 9

  • Tony Cruz was 1-for-4.
  • Pete Kozma was 0-for-4.  He also committed his second error in 9 games.
  • Adron Chambers was 3-for-3 with a walk. Chambers also stole three bases off of different pitchers, so I’d wager a guess that Derek Norris of the Washington Nationals’ affiliate needs to work on throwing out base stealers.  Chambers has been enjoying his time in the AFL thus far and while he hasn’t been hitting for power he’s posting a nifty .370/.406/.407 line.
  • Brian Broderick pitched 4 innings allowing 5 runs on 9 hits. He also committed a throwing error.  Broderick struck out 1 but was tagged with 2 HRs.

Zach Cox is currently sporting a .533 OPS through 31 ABs in the Arizona Fall League. It’s nothing to get worked up about but the Cardinals certainly have eyes on him during his time in Arizona. There’s been speculation about the level that Cox will start at next year; I’ve done my own wishcasting in that regard.  His performance in Arizona will probably play a role but this isn’t the first time the Cardinals have drafted an advanced college bat in recent years.

And we’re back. About a week ago the site flipped out and crashed in its entirety. Things still seem a bit tenuous but we’ll have regular posting again soon.

I had something come up that interrupted my normal writing time. What I’d like to do though is update the links on the side bar. In the comments leave links to any Cardinal related or minors/prospects related blogs that you enjoy. I’ll update this weekend.
