Working Group #1 1, Working Group #2 1
Group 1

Group 2:

The return of the DFRs reminds me that there’s an interesting collection of outfielders in the low minors. D’Marcus Ingram, Frederick Parejo, Raniel Rosario and Michael Swinson aren’t guys that scream future major leaguer to me but they each have some projection and tools that may develop as they progress. In much the same manner that I find Jon Jay and Adron Chambers to be useful roster candidates if unlikely to be stars, these minor leaguers could someday find a similar role in their future.

Working Group #3 1, Working Group#4 0 (7 innings)
Group 3:

Group 4:

  • Trevor Rosenthal allowed 2 hits and 1 ER over 2 innings of work. He struck out 3. Rosenthal’s name (and fastball velocity) keep getting mentioned intermittently but I’ve yet to hear a full report on Trevor. Could be another interesting arm to watch in the low minors. He’ll be 21 at the end of May.
  • Jose Rada allowed 2 hits and one strikeout in 2 IP.
  • Drew Benes and Aaron Terry both struck out 1 in 1 IP. Terry allowed a hit.
  • Packy Elkins nd Pat Biserta singled.

Thanks again to Farm Director John Vuch and the Cardinals’ staff who compile the info for these reports during spring training.

Let’s hope Ottavino has a good year, I think he could be reliever trade bait

I heard rumor that Matthew Adams traveled with the big league club today for the game against the Nationals. Is this a sign that the Cardinals are considering him as an option in the near future and are letting him get acclimated to being around the big league club??

Matt Carpenter just led off an inning with a triple. Descalso and Hamilton followed with homers. They’re all future Redbirds, right?

The interesting thing is that they did this to Drew Storen, #10 overall pick in 2009 and a legit MLB pitcher.

Screw what the pundits say, our farm system kicks ass!

    Aaaagh, spring and DFR’s…..

  8. RCHIII says:

Rosenthal was sitting between 93 & 97. Most important stat – NO WALKS. Yeah, I guess I would call that “interesting”!
