Steve Hill, Adam Reifer Go Out With Knee InjuriesPosted by azruavatar in Adam Reifer, Steven HillI missed this yesterday but Erin Bolen of the Springfield News-Leader reports that Steven Hill tore his meniscus and will be out 4-6 weeks. That’s a pretty big setback for someone who is a) a catcher and b) not getting any younger. Adam Reifer was also carted off the field during Memphis’ game per The Memphis Commercial Appeal. Here’s hoping Hill & Reifer have a fast and full recoveries. I wrote about Jason Motte at VEB on Sunday. I knew that there’s a history of me scouting him and watching him so I spent some time digging up old posts about Jason Motte when he was still in the minors. I wrote a lot about him in 2008 and it turns out, some things never change. Memphis @ Iowa, 12:05pm: P.J. Walters Springfield @ Midland, 7:07pm: Scott Schneider Palm Beach @ Charlotte, 5:30pm: Justin Smith Quad Cities v. Peoria, 7:00pm: Kevin Siegrist Note: All times are CST. Five games on the docket tonight with Memphis and Palm Beach pulling out victories. Quad Cities got swept by Burlington in a double header, they were shut out in both games. Four games on tap from yesterday, as Quad Cities is postponed again due to inclement weather. A rather tepid night of performances with no one really standing out. The pitching was generally solid and the hitting was spotty with some players performing well but not great. Also, some awful news out of Memphis regarding player injuries. With all the postponed games due to rain yesterday, I’m somewhat taking a shot in the dark at the starters. It looks like both Springfield and QC are going with double headers today. No clear indication when Memphis is making up there game though I think I RT’d something about it yesterday. Memphis @ Iowa, 7:05pm: Lance Lynn Springfield v. Frisco, 3:05pm: Deryk Hooker Palm Beach @ Jupiter, 5:35pm: Joe Kelly Quad Cities vs. Burlington, 5:00pm: Jordan Swagerty Seth Blair – Mixed up my ASU starters. Memphis, Springfield, and Quad Cities were all postponed. Palm Beach is the lone representative in the Farm Report, and they lose a close one.

Andy Van Slyke’s Questionable Criticism of Colby RasmusPosted by azruavatar in UncategorizedLou Schuler linked to some interesting words from Andy Van Slyke in a recent Bernie’s Bytes post by Bernie Miklasz. I’m going to take issue with Van Slyke’s criticism because, in part, it seems to cloud history with phrasing and some inaccurate details. I’m certain this will be perceived as me being a Colby Rasmus apologist but something rings odd about this conversation. Memphis @ Iowa: Lance Lynn Springfield v. Frisco: Kevin Thomas [Update 3:32pm CST] Deryk Hooker will be making the start. Kevin Thomas bumped due to a rash. Per Kary Booher Palm Beach @ Jupiter: Maikel Cleto Quad Cities v. Burlington: Seth Blair |
