Somewhere, in the backyards of America, Lance Berkman is inspiring a whole generation of children to tippy toe out of the box and lay their bat down as if it’s made of Faberge.

So were Pham’s numbers last year legit? He looks like he’s doing a great job building on last years success.

Long term does the team see Joe Kelly as more than a bullpen arm?

    • JC says:

I think Kelly will continue to be a starter in the Cards eyes until he proves otherwise. I personally think he has a legit shot to make it as a starter – more of a back of the rotation type of guy.

Haven’t seen Daryl Jones in a box score lately – wonder if he’s hurt

Also, Blair has not had a good start to his season. Seems like control has been an issue

    • Tackle Box says:

Funny, I was just thinking the same thing about Jones this morning. Haven’t heard anything about him being hurt and I’m not sure if he’s been playing since I usually don’t check the full boxscore.

  3. Clark says:

What’s wrong with Ahmady, he’s 1 for his last 8

  4. Andrew says:

I think Pham’s numbers were legit he got hot at the end of the year but it ended with a broken hand and his vision problems. It’s reported that he didn’t have the surgery but decided to do something with his contacts. He did nothing at all in the time i saw him in Spring Training but he seems to have really heated up again. He’s someone I want to take slow, let him stay at Springfield all year and see if he can stay more consistent then Memphis next year.

BTW – Future Redbird’s Mods – This post has no title

  6. Bob says:

Pham’s numbers at AA last year were at least somewhat artificially inflated by a .400+ batting average on balls in play…but that is *not* the case so far this year (his 21-64 BABIP being a hair under .333).

Gotta love that excellent 15/19 BB/K ratio, too. Tommy’s always been a streaky hitter, but if he maintains that sort of strikezone command, I really think he could be a .280/.350/.470 guy in the majors—with plus defense.

I do agree with you, Andrew, about keeping Pham at Springfield. Well, unless he’s hitting .330/.420/.600 a month from now. ;)

So Blair’s been awful for Quad Cities, and Swagerty nearly flawless. Swagerty was the college reliever, right?

  7. cariocacardinal says:

Curious why Blair was pulled so early this time. His line wasn´t that bad and his pitch count couldn´t have een that high. Maybe he started to lose his rythm? Sounds like they should send him down to EST for a couple of weeks. Pitching 2 innings at a time isn´t going to get him the work he needs.

    • Tackle Box says:

I wonder if there’s anyone down at EST who could possibly fill his rotation spot???????

    • cariocacardinal says:

I guess he got pulled because of a rain delay.

      • cariocacardinal says:

I assume you are either joking or dont know how to spell M-A-R-T-I-N-E-Z

        • Cards Fan in Chitown #2 says:

          +1 CC…..

Has anyone heard how he’s looked down there so far? It’s obvious he has the stuff for the next level, it’s just a matter of him getting used to life here. Hell, he probably has the stuff for AA right now

        • Andrew says:

Could be sooner rather than later!

    • Andrew says:

There was an hour rain delay after the 2nd inning so they obviously took him out rather than have him warm back up and get more innnings in.

      • Tackle Box says:

Figured that was the case. I’m about 10 minutes from the park and it came down pretty good for 15 minutes or so.

  8. buchek's bat says:

A Faberge egg???? Wait a minute, I thought the Faberge eggs were the minor league prospects we hyperventilating geeks fawned over and prized too highly???

  9. Andrew says:

BTW stay tuned for some possible exciting changes in our system soon. I’m not for sure but I heard that some things could be gonig down soon.

  10. Howildcard says:

It does jut saw it posted on scout.

  11. Mike G says:

Martinez to Quad Cities, Swagerty to Palm Beach, Ahmady to Springfield.

    • Hugecardsfan says:

Pitchers are already bereft of hitting in Palm Beach, save a few singles from Cox, Ahmady’s departure isn’t helping the Palm Beach offense…such as it is.

  12. Andrew says:

They got Ingram back today and have Conley in the OF now. Cox and Rosario are sitting today.
