Archive for May, 2011Memphis: No Scheduled Games Springfield @ Arkansas, 7:10: Maikel Cleto Palm Beach vs. Daytona, 6:35pm: Joe Kelly Quad Cities @ Peoria, 6:30pm: Kevin Siegrist The farm went 3-1 overall. Check out the details after the break! Subtitle: Kozmanaut Fails to Leave Lower Atmosphere In 2007, Pete Kozma was selected by the Cardinals as their first overall pick. There was much wailing and gnashing of the teeth (including here) due to Rick Porcello, who was widely regarded as the best high school arm, still being available. Even though Pete Kozma was no Rick Porcello, I doubt anyone predicted or hoped his time in the minors would be so thoroughly mediocre. Future Redbirds is getting a lot more comments this year and I think that is fantastic. While we strive to be as informed as possible on prospects and provide interesting insights to the minor league system there will always be a place for comments and other person’s insights. We’ve never had to have too many rules with regards to FR etiquette but now seems as good a time as any to have that conversation. Memphis vs. Fresno, 1:05pm: Nick Additon (Memphis debut as starter) Springfield @ Arkansas, 7:10pm: Maikel Cleto Palm Beach vs. Tampa, 6:35pm: Jordan Swagerty Quad Cities @ Peoria, 6:30pm: Anthony Ferrara Quad Cities got the day off, while the rest of the farm went 2-1. Find out which team nearly got no-hit after the break…

Springfield Cardinals: May 7 & 8Posted by azruavatar in Matt Adams, Nick Additon, Ryan Jackson, Scouting Reports, Springfield Cardinals, Tommy PhamI spent a weekend in Springfield taking in some local company and a pair of games: one on Saturday and one on Sunday. There are three position players on the Springfield team (Matt Adams, Ryan Jackson and Tommy Pham) that I paid special attention to and I had the chance to get a look at Nick Additon and Kevin Thomas as starters. Memphis vs. Fresno, 7:05pm: Brandon Dickson Springfield @ Arkansas, 7:10pm: Michael Blazek Palm Beach vs. Tampa, 5:35pm: John Gast (PB’s rotation is in flux with the double header) Quad Cities @ Peoria, 6:30pm: Anthony Ferrara Six games on the docket tonight including double headers in Springfield and Palm Beach. The system puts up a respectable record of 3-3 with some interesting as well as odd stat lines. Carlos Martinez brings our expectations back to earth in his second start for Quad Cities and there is a Daryl Jones sighting in tonight’s DFR. The farm goes 2-2 on a night with Palm Beach’s game postponed and a double header for Quad Cities. |
